The next step I made was joining a financial advisors team. I took any available next step towards becoming a financial advisor.

I worked with clients in the same capacity as the advisors on the team:

Reviewed portfolios and recommended investments.

Built financial plans and help bring on new clients.

Then made sure that current clients felt that their plans were updated with their lives and that they received the service they needed to keep their lives on track with their goals.

Starting out on the path to becoming a financial advisor 

I thought it wouldn't make sense going straight into the role as I had just graduated college 

And I wanted to become the go to person any client could rely on to care for their retirement as well as get them to the point they wished to be.

In this role I was able to work with financial advisors and their clients to trade many different

Stocks, bonds and options to help them grow and protect their portfolios

I learned from the ground up in many aspects of the business.

Since I was working with financial advisors and clients everyday I was able to become part of the training team for new financial advisors and employees in general.

Helped the management team oversee 60+ client associates which in turn provided me an understanding of what it took to run a business with employees

Market trade corrections and fixing margin calls were part of my everyday activities to ensure clients were getting what they expected.

While completing all of these daily I had three straight years of flawless bi-annual audit results and achieved the highest possible annual review rating

• Spearheaded automation of accounting processes leveraging Alteryx and Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI).

• Led a team of analysts, responsible for the audit and ongoing maintenance of financial reports for assets under custody. Assets consisted of equities, fixed income, alternatives and derivatives. 
• Managed the daily workflow and performance of the team and acted as the escalation point for clients and the Relationship Management team.
• Track record of successful projects delivery, consisting of both international and domestic assignments.

I have over 14 years in the financial services industry, mostly spent within the investments landscape supporting institutional clients.

  • ~ 11 years in financial reporting and accounting for complex investment portfolios such as 401Ks, pensions, general accounts, endowments and foundations. During this time, I was able to see all the moving parts of an investment portfolio, which led my passion for personal finance, investments and planning for a great future.

  • ~ 3 years working for a large multinational Insurance company within their corporate accounting department leading projects on technology based improvements.

It is the proactive financial planning that gave me the opportunity to be able to start my own firm. The financial stability that financial planning can bring provides more options to live life on your terms.

One of my core values is helping people. I also like numbers and analyzing data. As a financial planner (a lot of numbers and data), I get to help people with their financial prosperity. It is the perfect job for me!

I am horrible at selling. Since I have my own firm, that might be a bad thing since I need to "sell" my services. But this is good for my clients. They don't need to feel they are part of a salesy and pushy process. My firm focuses on building long-term relationships, so we can be your financial advisor throughout your financial journey.

Personal finance is not easy. It is a continuous journey with many moving parts. But you don't have to do it alone. Finding someone you can trust with your finances is a big task, which is why it is important that the engagement is focused on a long-term relationship and not a transaction.

Comprehensive financial planning brings clarity to everything money related in your life. It is the alignment of your financial capital with your values and goals.
