I’ve lived in Chennai for 33 years.

Same streets.
Same heat.
Same sea breeze that hits you differently depending on what's happening in life.

And yet, I know this truth, almost embarrassingly:

I still haven’t met many of my people.

Not just “successful” people.
Not just “famous” people.

I mean people with:

A beautiful heart.
An ambitious mind.
A brave inconvenient story.

One such person I met is Pooja. 

In her office, there’s a simple board that reads:
“Turning Pain into Smile.”

At first glance, you think it's just a fancy frame.
A quote.

But the more time you spend around her, you realise
it’s not a slogan.
It’s the way she lives.

Not just for herself,
but for hundreds of people around her.

She gives people something most of us underestimate until we need it badly:
hope.

So this is me saying this out loud, into the city that raised me:

If you’re in Chennai,
and you feel like a misfit,
an outlier,
someone building quietly,
loving deeply,
thinking dangerously

I want to meet you.

Not to collaborate.
Not to scale.
Not to extract value.

Just to sit.
Talk.

There's no such thing as "self-made."

Anything truly worth doing requires a team.

You either:
Start a tribe
Or Join one

It's high expectations to assume everyone will start their own new tribe.

So, most of you will join one.

When picking a community to join:

Don't just look for the most intelligent, wealthy, and influential people.
Look for the one with the fewest (or no) jerks involved.

One jerk is enough to spoil it all.

For years, I thought my problem is less work. 

I thought if I took up more jobs, more clients, consumed more content, spoke more, worked harder life would be amazing. 

But studying HCI Human Computer Interaction taught me otherwise:

When everything is too close each other, 
humans lose control, and struggle to decide. 

So in design we add whitespace (or negative space). 
The part that has “nothing”. 

Best Example: Google, Uber, Airbnb.

This idea surely expands beyond UI/UX. 

Add empty gaps in your calendar. 
Don't be in a hurry to jump into the next conversation. 

Add incubation time after reading few pages of book. 
Just sit and think shallow about it. 

Wait before you start your next task. 
Drink water, sit idle. Let the brain switch modes. 

The brain needs unfinished time to finish thoughts.

That’s why your best thoughts show up:
in the shower
on walks
while staring out of a window
five minutes after a conversation ends

Ads everywhere, 
no margins,
no breathing room.

It's hilarious how the guy who built this website is the same guy who built no.1 mediation and sleep app - calm. 

Maybe he's just trying to show two different contrasts. 

Busy life might look impressive on the outside. 
But spacious life feels good from the inside. 

Live beautifully.

There’s one job on this planet that almost anyone can take up.

No qualifications needed.
No certificates.
No college degree.
No resume.
No followers.

Just say to yourself,
“I’m a leader.”

And that’s it.
You’re in.

Bull sh*t? 

No, serious. 
Allow me to explain. 

All you really need to do
is take care of the people around you.

Imagine you’re going on a trip with friends.

Most people think leadership here means:

– deciding where to go and when
– managing the budget, costs, expenses
– booking hotels, buses, flights
– coordinating everything

So you do it all.
You own everything.

This is the kind of leadership most MBAs are taught:
Leadership = Planning + Strategy + Control

And when people don’t respect you for it,
you get frustrated.

You feel unappreciated.
You feel taken for granted.

But real leadership is much simpler.

On that trip, your job is not to run the itinerary.

Your job is to take care of the people coming with you.

Let them decide where they want to go.
Let them choose what they want to do.
Let them enjoy the process of doing things.

Your role becomes surprisingly small.

You just check in:

– Have they eaten?
– Did they sleep well?
– Are they comfortable?
– Do they feel safe being themselves?

When people feel taken care of,
they naturally step up.

They contribute.
They cooperate.
They respect you without you asking for it.

That’s leadership.

Not control.
Not authority.

Care.

Sharing some hard-earned lessons with you for free.

These insights took years to gain, and they came at a cost:

I wasn't happy.
I lost people before they reached their full potential.
I lost a little bit of myself along the way.
