So today makes it one week since I had a minor surgery to remove an abnormal growth on my skin (cryotherapy). After the procedure, the pain made it hard for me to work properly from home.

I didn’t tell many people about it save my pastor, family, close friends, and my clients.

I informed one of my clients, a tech CEO, that I’d need to take a short break to recover. His reaction really surprised me.

Not for work done, or for any incoming project.

A few days ago, the US announced stricter entry rules for Nigerians and some other countries.

At first, it sounded like just another immigration update.

But it’s already affecting real companies.

Visas are being cancelled.
Relocation plans are being paused.
Some teams are suddenly unsure about what happens next.

For many companies, this isn’t about politics.

It’s about getting work done without disruption.

When hiring depends on visas and moving people across borders, one policy change can break the entire plan.

So companies are starting to ask a different question now:

Can this person do the job remotely and deliver without problems?

If hiring locally becomes harder, companies won’t stop hiring.

They’ll simply look beyond borders.

In 2025, I closed several foreign clients without travelling, cold calling, or running paid ads.

Just simple, consistent marketing.

1. Upwork
Not by bidding blindly, but by positioning properly and speaking business language.

2. LinkedIn and WhatsApp 
Follow-ups, relationship building, and closing conversations where trust already existed.

3. Email marketing
Quietly doing the heavy lifting—nurturing leads and closing deals in the background.

Of course, there are no shortcuts to these. Just understanding your audience pain points and studying how people buy.

If you master even one of these platforms properly in 2026, you won’t struggle to find clients.

This week, I barely stepped out of my house.

❌ No market runs.
❌ No office.
❌ No “going to work”.

Except church, and straight back home.

Yet in this same week, I:

✅ worked with foreign businesses
✅ consulted with a CEO in the US
✅ handled active business in Nigeria
✅ made more than I would have commuting daily to an office

All from my living room.

No traffic.
No dress code.
No one checking if I’m “online”.

The only way my neighbours know I’m around is the soft music from my radio when they get back from work.

This is one of the quiet beauties of running a freelance business from home.

From the outside, nothing looks busy.

But work is getting done.
