Inspired by biomimicry (animal behaviour) our technology Orcanet (tm) came to life - optimising the way technology and animals can co-exist in our oceans 🌊

In Havguard AS we use artificial intelligence to make our underwater communication system auto-adaptive to environmental conditions, designed to reduce:
 
- energy consumption
- emission power
- time the fauna is exposed to communication signals
- usage of frequency bands used by animals to limit disturbance
- usage of sound and light in communication, and more usage of the magnetic field

Our team is inspired by our love and care for animals, and based on that we found ways to reduce human impact on nature, simultaneously increasing the quality of service. 

The Orca inspired us because it has a highly complex and yet efficient way of communicating. Their communication signals are using a complex modulation scheme and is adaptable for short and long distances. It's a discrete and interesting animal 🐋

Our technology was developed based on our core values, and the same values motivates us to believe we have a role to play in developing the next generation #underwater technology 🌊

Welcome to my profile 🇳🇴

I'm Emilie, a Norwegian entrepreneur and CEO of the deeptech company Havguard AS. 

The world-class expertise in Havguard has spent 14 years of work solving problems in underwater communication and sensing. This has resulted in new and revolutionary technology beyond the state of the art. Since the start of our company in January 23 we have had quite a journey; for instance we were a scouted company for the 401 Tech Bridge/ NavalX cohort BlueTIDE, on panel of disruptive technologies in NATO HQ for the Digital Ocean, venture in the selected CDL Atlantic Ocean program and last but not least a company in the Masschallange BlueTech program. 

My background (PhD.c) is from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), as well as the Nordic program for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Karolinska Institutet, University of Oslo, University of Copenhagen, and NTNU). I have two abroad courses (Kings College of Applied Security Studies): one in “AI for national security” and another one in “Wargaming and Strategy”.

Triway is a really cool engineering company! A senior engineering team is now working with developing robots, 3D printing, mechanical and electrical engineering. We prototype, and we produce small and medium scale products, often developed by the team. We have 6 industrial 3D printers and we use them more or less 24/7. The largest one ordered now can print up to 1,2 m3 in the dimensions: 100 cm X 100 cm X 120 cm - which may be Norway´s largest 3D printer? Nordic Blue Crude has gone all the way from an exciting idea to a professional company. I formed the company together with Rolf Bruknapp, and he and a professional team lead by Gunnar Holen have shown great execution power! I am proud to be part of this journey being on the board for all these years. NBC ended up being a good exit for me, and the company is today in the hands of competent management and an experienced board. I wish them all success going forward, and I will continue to cheer for you! :)

👋 I’ve started and funded many businesses over the last 22 years and I find that I love doing this. 😀

Most of the time, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with excellent people. People I admire and that I can learn from. People that are much smarter than me. People with integrity. (Yes, learning also the hard way with some exceptions of some rotten apples....🙈)

I’ve worked with world-class VC investors like NorthZone Ventures for 8 years after I founded Innotech Solar AS in 2008. For Innotech Solar alone, the funding was: €52M in equity, €25M in debt, and €13M in grants. 8 years of top management experience growing the company from my idea to 180 employees and €35M revenue 3 years after launch. It was an exciting journey and a hard battle! I learned a lot! 😀
