Stop trying to do everything.

Then protect it with everything you have.

First… stop pretending it’s easy.

Second… narrow your focus. 🎯🔍

When everything feels urgent, nothing is clear. 🌪️

Third… return to fundamentals. 🧱🛠️

When the storm hits, fancy strategies don’t save you. 🌧️

Basics do. 🧭

Fourth… choose resilience over motivation. 🔁💪

Motivation fades, but resilience stays.

Some mornings I didn’t feel inspired. 😴

But I showed up anyway. 🚶‍♂️

And that counted. ✅

Fifth… don’t suffer alone. 🤝🗣️

Talk to other leaders who’ve been through it.

Adversity shared is adversity halved. 🪞

And finally… (And most importantly)

Remember why you started. ❤️🔥

Not the version you post online. 📱

The real reason.

For me, it was building something honest. 🧠

For the long-term. ⏳

Something my team could believe in. 👥

Adversity doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.

Often, it means you’re doing something meaningful. 🌱✨

But intensity is not infrastructure.

When Is It Actually Time to Hire? 📊

Ask yourself:

 ✅ Is demand repeatable (not just spiky)?
 ✅ Does this role protect or generate revenue?
 ✅ Do I have 6–12 months runway?
 ✅ Are processes documented and measurable?
 ✅ Is hiring truly the best solution?

If most answers are unclear — wait.

If they’re data-backed — move.

Sequence Determines Survival 🧭

Entrepreneurship isn’t about avoiding risk.

It’s about choosing the right risk at the right time.

Numbers bring discipline.

Experience brings discernment.

The founders who endure don’t grow the fastest.

They grow deliberately.

🪞 The mirror is one of the most underrated leadership tools.

Of course, I don’t mean the one on your wall…

The one you’re brave enough to look into. 👀

There’s an old Chinese saying I’ve carried with me for years:

“以铜为镜，可以正衣冠；
以史为镜，可以知兴替；
以人为镜，可以明得失。”

It means…

Using bronze as a mirror, you can straighten your clothes. 👔

Using history as a mirror, you can understand rise and decline of dynasties. 📜

Using people as a mirror, you can understand wins and losses. ⚖️

In business, most people don’t fail because they lack ambition.

They fail because they avoid mirrors. 🪞

💼 The first mirror is appearance.

In leadership, this is how you show up.

The mirror never lies.

📖 The second mirror is history.

I’ve seen companies repeat the same mistakes again and again. 🔁

Overexpansion.

Ignoring cash flow. 💸

Chasing speed over quality.

All because they didn’t look back.

History is the most honest consultant you’ll ever have.

👥 The third mirror is people.

And this one is the hardest.

Feedback can hurt. 

Silence can hurt even more. 😶

Early in my career, I thought leadership meant having answers.

Now I know it means asking questions. ❓

“What am I missing?”
“What pattern keeps repeating?”
“What are people trying to tell me… without words?”

🧠 Growth starts with reflection.

The mirror won’t always flatter you.

But it will make you better. 💪

So here’s my quiet reminder today…

Look in the mirror. 🪞

Straighten your clothes.

Study the past.

Listen to those around you.

Because leaders who dare to reflect…

Rarely lose their way. ✨

Here’s a question most of us like to avoid…

💼 How long should you wait for a sales representative to deliver results?

I’ve faced this decision more times than I can count. 💸

And I’ll be honest… it’s never any easy answer. 

Sales is oxygen. 🫁

Without it, even the best company suffocates.

But sales is also a long game. ♟️

And confusing activity with results is one of the most expensive mistakes you can make.

Here’s where I stand today. 👇

⏳ I give sales representatives about 6 months to perform.

You need deals closing. 💰

And the pipeline converting to keep the lights on. 

But you also have to think about the long-term. 

My 180-day rule probably isn’t perfect. 

There might be great sales managers who need more than 180 days to get their bearings. 

Diamonds in the rough so to speak… 

You might be long-term assets if you give them just a little extra support and time…

Regardless, I’ve found my 6-month rule a good balance (3-month trial seems to be too short to have the positive results but progress is highly possible and expected).. 

But here’s where many leaders get it wrong.

They only look at short-term numbers. 📊

But I’m curious how long do you let new sales reps underperform before you make a change? 💭 💬 👇

“How much can I extract?”

When I walk factory floors in Shanghai or Shantou 👣

I’m not impressed by today’s output. 🏭

Instead, I ask:

Will they still stand in five years?
Will we still trust each other in ten? 🔍

Because thinking in decades changes you. 🧭

Hiring is one of the most (if not THE most) important decisions a leader can make.

And I’ve learned…

Hiring isn’t about how someone performs when things are good.

It’s about how they react when a shipment is delayed. 🚢

When a sample fails testing. 🧪

When a client pushes back hard on quality. 🌍

So when I sit across from a candidate, I’m not just thinking:
“Can you do the job?”

I’m thinking:

Do you stay calm under pressure? 🌊
Do you take ownership when things break? 🔧
Or do you wait for someone else to step in? ⏳

In toys, small issues become global problems very quickly. 📦🌎

Building a team is long-term thinking. 🌱

You don’t hire for today’s orders.

You hire for tomorrow’s storms. 🌧️

And the right three hires can shape the next three years.

So let me ask you…
