I lead a research-driven initiative examining labor, leadership, and institutional accountability at a critical inflection point in the American workforce.

My work focuses on how Black women experience power inside organizations, how institutions respond to economic and cultural disruption, and how leadership norms, policy decisions, and workplace structures shape outcomes over time. I approach these questions through long-form research, narrative analysis, and applied inquiry grounded in lived professional experience.

I have published multiple books that function as field-based research, documenting patterns in voice, silence, leadership evaluation, and institutional behavior across corporate, educational, and policy-adjacent environments. These works serve as qualitative evidence informing my ongoing analysis of workplace systems rather than as prescriptive or self-help material.

The Center for Black Women, Work, and Power provides a formal home for this body of work, supporting sustained scholarship, public-facing analysis, and institutional engagement. It is intentionally structured as a lightweight research entity to preserve independence, rigor, and publication focus.

I am currently engaged in research, writing, and advisory work related to workforce transformation, leadership dynamics, and organizational accountability.

Podcast Host

Host of Black Power Moves, a weekly deep dive podcast that is part of the Ebony Covering Black America Podcast Network. Episodes inform about Black culture, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and history.  

The podcast format exemplifies a casual, get-to-know-you conversation, rather than an interview. This  expresses the mission and goals, which are simply to amplify the voices of Black people across the Diaspora.

To that end, there are no prepared questions, to recreate the tradition of oral storytelling through a historical African lens. Guests tell their own stories in a way that feels comfortable and natural, with the host guiding the conversation in the framework of an authentic, culturally sensitive and relevant narrative that has a goal to amplify Black voices and inspire, educate and motivate listeners.

Is it possible for our tea and coffee farmers in Africa to earn better from selling direct to consumer countries? Or am I being delusional? 

 Sheena Raikundalia, Susan Njuguna, Hillary Kimani, Andi Bugingo your expertise and thoughts here would be really appreciated. 

Is direct trade capable of bettering prices at factory level ? 

Or are there other limitations/considerations at play that would keep farmer earnings low despite better export margins?

Did you know Scandinavia imports $85M worth of tea annually, but less than 2% is bought directly from Africa? 


So we asked every importer, distributor, HoReCa buyer we have come across, "What stops you from sourcing in Africa? " 


Most of them assume working directly with suppliers in Africa is RISKY, more hustle involved, more stress, no systems, they are too far away... 

They would rather pay triple source prices than deal with it. 



The thing that never ceases to amaze me is most of them do not even TRY! Yet year in, year out, African suppliers are written off due to this fear. 


Lack of visibility and lack of interaction between suppliers in Africa and buyers in Scandinavia means this perception will continue denying us trade opportunities unless we actively put these two groups in the same room to demistify real challenges from myths and real partners from time wasters. 

Money flows to who is seen, known, and easily found.

I have a heavy heart today, I worked on a solution meant for Africans but the first adopter was a European company selling organic vegan cocoa. 

They are re-selling it at almost 10X the buying price in Africa, with the only value add being packaging and product positioning. 

This week I have been reaching out to Buyers on behalf of a Polish company, not a company in Ghana, Ivory Coast, or Cameroon. 


That is what happens when we move slow, when we expect sales guarantees from initial meetings, when we want to sell but do not want to invest in finding buyers, 


In the absence of African producers/suppliers, 
Other sellers move fast and decisively,
Present their products to interested parties,
Lock in partnerships that last years if not decades,
And enjoy better margins than the producer side. 


By the time Africa suppliers are ready, supply chains are secured and even low prices can't entice Buyers from leaving a reliable but expensive partnership. 


This is the real cost of inaction and how Africa keeps losing out year in, year out.


There are multiple ways we are supporting African suppliers, especially at factory level, to reach interested buyers across Norway, Sweden. and Denmark. Links in the comments.

Opportunity will find you where you show up! My first Buyer contact in Norway came from the chef in the kitchen I washed dishes at. 

We started talking, he was planning on opening his small restaurant in Lithuania. And I told him I was planning to connect suppliers of agricultural products in Africa to importers, distributers, and wholesalers in Norway. 

He later sent me a contact he knew.


That was last year May. 

I called the contact, introduced myself, and explained what I was working on. He said they have been discussing for years about sourcing from Africa but have never gotten to it. 


7 months later, when we were ready in December, he was the first to join our list of Buyers, and he invited 2 more contacts in Denmark to our first Buyer meeting. 


I want to repeat, opportunity will find you where you show up! 


And this applies to suppliers in Africa. 


If Buyers in Svandinavia that want to work direct with origin do not know you, 
Do not know you exist, 
Have no idea whether you can handle export logistics, 
That you have the capacity, food safety qualifications they look out for, 
If they do not know you are not as risky as they think, 

How are they going to buy from you? 😳


Every quarter they will take their business to who they know and trust.
