Lower ACoS is the ultimate lie
in Amazon advertising.

I’ve seen it break accounts.

Here’s a real example
pulled straight from an audit.

ACoS went
from 35% → 25%.

Looks amazing, right?

Sales dropped 40% YoY.

Profit?

Didn’t move.

Not even a little.

What went wrong?

They optimized ROAS
and forgot how Amazon actually works.

Here’s the part most people miss:

ROAS is driven by
cost per click control.

Yes, bids matter.

And yet… nothing really changed.

Rufus might be responsible for some revenue for sellers but that number isn’t visible, measurable, or significant enough to base strategy on.

Rufus now highlights pricing history.
Which means:

Basically, Keepa got embedded into Amazon.
If your pricing is inconsistent, customers will see it immediately.

Discounts now work better.
Fake discounts don’t.

This is mainly a customer feature, but it forces sellers to be more transparent.

3️⃣ AI traffic will soon matter more than Google traffic

This is the biggest shift most sellers are not preparing for.
Soon, ChatGPT and AI tools will drive more traffic to product pages than Google.

Why?
⤷ Because people don’t want to Google anymore.

They ask AI:
⤷ “Best magnesium supplement for sleep”
⤷ “Best protein powder without bloating”

And AI gives product recommendations directly.

If you’ve been investing in:
⤷ SEO articles
⤷ backlinks
⤷ Amazon-focused landing pages

You now also need to think about GEO — generative engine optimization.

Meaning:
⤷ Is your product visible and recommended inside AI systems?

AI on Amazon isn’t about bots replacing sellers.

It’s about:
⤷ transparency over pricing tricks
⤷ discovery shifting beyond Google

AI on Amazon: The New Reality

You can search for any ASIN and uncover insights like:
⤷ Estimated click volume
⤷ Demand trends over time
⤷ Product-level competition signals
⤷ And even approximate conversion behavior

Estimating your competitor’s Conversion Rate (CVR).

Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Get unit sales
⤷ From Amazon SERP for ASINs with lower volume (100+ bought, 1k+ bought)
⤷ From third-party tools, if the ASIN sells 10k+ units per month

Step 2: Get click data
⤷ Use Product Opportunity Explorer to see estimated clicks for that ASIN

Step 3: Calculate CVR
⤷ Units Sold ÷ Clicks = Conversion Rate

As long as you know:
✔ click count
✔ units sold
you can calculate CVR with solid accuracy.

This makes it possible to answer questions like:
⤷ Why is this competitor outranking me?
⤷ Are they converting better or just driving more traffic?
⤷ Is pricing, content, or positioning the real difference?

If you sell beauty products, supplements, or other consumables on Amazon, you’re probably paying around $4 per click…

I mean — everyone does.

So how do you make money when your CPA is through the roof?

The answer is LTV.

C — Customer
L — Lifetime
T — Time
V — Value

You often lose money on the first purchase.
⤷ The profit comes later when customers return.

That’s how most successful CPG brands actually scale.

Do you know your LTV on Amazon?
⤷ If not, that’s not great news, because many of your competitors already do.

The good news?
⤷ You can calculate it using Amazon data only.

How to calculate LTV step by step

Go to Seller Central:
⤷ Reports
⤷ Fulfillment
⤷ Amazon Fulfilled Shipments

This is the report you need.

Download the data for the last 12 months in CSV format.

⚠️ Important note:
⤷ Amazon allows only one month per request, so you’ll need to generate 12 separate files.
(It takes time to process, so start the downloads and work on something else meanwhile.)

Once all files are ready:

1️⃣ Combine all 12 months into one Excel file.
2️⃣ Find the “Buyer Email” column.
⤷ Count unique emails using:
=COUNTA(UNIQUE(range))
3️⃣ Find “Shipped Quantity” and calculate the total.
4️⃣ Divide:
Total shipped units ÷ unique buyers = LTV (units)

✅ Done.
You’ve just calculated your 12-month Amazon LTV.

Split your price median by brand AND by market.

Why?
⤷ Pricing isn’t universal.
⤷ Each keyword has its own “acceptable” price range. And that range can quietly limit your market share growth.

What does this metric show you? 
⤷ Market average price for a keyword
⤷ Your brand’s average purchase price
⤷ The gap between the two

When you look at it per keyword, patterns become obvious:
⤷ You may be priced above the market → growth stalls
⤷ You’re close to the market average → relevancy improves
⤷ You’re priced below the average → advantage in share capture

Why does this matter for market share?
⤷ Pricing alignment is a relevancy signal.
⤷ The closer your price is to the market median, the easier it is to compete.
⤷ If you’re below it, growth becomes even more achievable.

Most founders who started a good CPG business in 2016 on Amazon now have a 10-figure net worth, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it right now.
 
You just need to change your approach from single-purchase profit to long-term profit.

Insight I want to bring to your attention?
Use cohorts.
 
If you don’t know what a “cohort” is, run as fast as possible to our website and sign up, because you will be surprised how your Amazon data really looks.
 
If you know, then listen.
 
Top brands use cohorts for EVERY test.
EVERY.
→ Price change
→ Coupon change
→ Image update
→ PPC strategy
→ Influencer campaign
 
Cohorts are used to track how the same customer group behaves over time
⤷ mainly to see if they will buy again from your brand.
 
Simple: you run a test and then, using cohorts, measure how that test performed.
 ⤷ Did we get more new customers?
 ⤷ Are those customers loyal?
 ⤷ Did we make more profit in the long term, or did we just acquire a bunch of one-time buyers who won’t come back?

Good LTV = good margin
Bad LTV = dead CPG business

Because you make at least $100k in sales a month, your data is already blended between repeat and NTB customers.

One of the best use cases for the Amazon SQP report is...
Product research. 

Here is a simple, few-step guide that clearly shows you what to do

Let's split the research into 2 processes.
- Existing Parent ASIN expansion
- All new products

This guide can be used for Existing Parent ASIN expansion.

Step 1
⤷ Go to the SQP by ASIN report, and select the ASIN you want to add new products to (if you are an MRP user, just filter it by Parent)

Step 2
⤷ Identify keywords (markets) where you don’t get clicks because you don’t have a relevant product, but it can be a good fit for your current parent

Step 3
⤷ Grab those keywords and check the average price median for clicks to understand the keyword average price. Perform more research on the niche, its size, etc. 

Step 4
⤷ Once you find a few good markets, go to Seller Central → SQP by ASIN report  
⤷ Click on the search query to see which competitors take most of the market share by clicks and impressions.
Those top 5 are basically your main competitors, and you need to make sure your product is different and better than those top 5.

Step 5
⤷ Turn data into profit :)

We already got 2 MRP clients with success using this approach:
⤷ 1st client took 10% market share in 2 weeks after launch
⤷ 2nd client took 6% market share in 1 week after launch

That’s how you turn data into profit :)

You lose money on new customers.
The real question is — do you know how much?

Most Amazon brands don’t.

And it’s not because the data isn’t available. It’s because the way we’ve been taught to look at Amazon numbers is outdated.

For the last two years, I’ve worked closely with brands selling repeat-purchase products:
supplements, beauty, and consumables.

And one thing keeps showing up again and again:
👉 The numbers sellers look at every day don’t reflect what’s actually happening in their business.

Here’s why  

Your Amazon revenue is coming from two completely different engines:
Revenue that flows automatically
⤷ repeat customers
⤷ subscribe & save
⤷ brand loyalty

Revenue that must be earned every day
⤷ Amazon search results
⤷ competitor pages
⤷ ads

When everything is blended together, it looks stable. But it’s not the full picture.
If you want to understand real profitability, you must separate your new-to-brand sales.

They don’t come only from search pages; they can also come from competitor listings, ads, and recommendations.

And what actually matters is not your total revenue.
It’s:
⤷ How much new-to-brand revenue you grow every month
⤷ and how much loss you generate while acquiring it

In the past, the logic was simple:
⤷ Look at total sales
⤷ Look at total profit
⤷ Change PPC spend or deals
⤷ See if revenue went up

I used to analyze businesses this way, too.
But I completely shifted my approach.

Now I look at:
⤷ how much new-to-brand revenue we acquire
⤷ how much new-to-brand loss we generate

Because that loss is your real customer acquisition cost.

From there, I calculate LTV to understand:
⤷ Do we get the money back in 1 month? 3 months? 6 months? 12 months?

And I do this per product, not per account.

Some SKUs can scale aggressively.
Some should never be pushed with ads.

This one shift, from blended totals to new vs repeat, completely changes:
⤷ PPC strategy
⤷ deal strategy
⤷ pricing decisions
⤷ growth expectations
