Lovable is turning 1🥳 and we just crossed $200m ARR 🤯. It’s wild. And not because the number is big, but because of how it happened. No giant sales org. Not a huge team (we are still under 100 peeps total). Not based in the heart of Silicon Valley. No endless paid marketing campaigns burning cash. Just product doing the heavy lifting like it always should.

Turns out when you focus on shipping fast, surprising people, and making software feel human again, the market pulls you forward. Builders talk, show/share what they make, and spread the word. The only other things that reliably worked for us were influencer marketing and giving the product away through freemium and every hackathon running on Lovable. It’s messy, nonlinear, and way more fun than the old playbook.

What I’m most proud of: this isn’t a growth theater. This is actual usage compounding. Real people building real things and telling their friends because they wanted to.

If you’re still treating growth like a channel optimization problem, you’re already behind. The most reliable engine is product that creates stories worth retelling. That’s what got us to 200m. And honestly, it feels like we’re just getting started.

Annual planning be like:
1. december: we start acting like psychics who specialize in ARR
2. we are given a number to hit
3. we build the plan
4. we rebuild the plan. and again. and again. and again. and again.
5. pre-reads, meetings, alignment about alignment. daily standups. 
6. we lose track of which version is “the plan”
(Its mid-Jan already) 
7. 40 slides. 6 pillars. 12 bets.
8. v27_final_final_FINAL.pptx becomes scripture
9. internal comms enters, now we need a comms plan for the plan
10. board hears the plan, no turning back
11. targets assigned like a chore wheel
12. Q1: always foundational work. Q2/Q3: the big stuff is coming. growth!
(last year? deleted from memory)
13. Q1 is running behind. 
14. big bets pushed to q3/q4 (q2 = still “foundations”)
15. we feverishly watch for “green shoots”
16. tech debt appears, migrations “almost done”
17. “need more time”
18. hockey stick expected to begin in Q4
19. “we can still hit the budget!”
20. there’s no way we can hit the budget. 
21. some executive exits
22. we promise to be realistic next year
23. someone proposes a new planning framework to fix everything
24. it’s December again. we become ARR psychics.

I’m about six months into Lovable, but it honestly feels like six years. In a good way. I haven’t felt a learning curve like this since I was still climbing early-career rungs.

(I joined when we were just under $45m in ARR. We just announced hitting $200M - just 4 months after hitting $100M 😅)

My previous growth playbook carried me through roles where most of my job was tuning funnels and scaling established loops. Not here. Maybe 30-40% of what I knew still applies. The rest I’ve had to unlearn.  

Here’s what I’m seeing:

- Growth is now about launching new “features” and product surfaces, not just fine-tuning what exists.  

- Traditional marketing is still useful, but it’s no longer the main lever - product, virality, creator economies and community matter more.  

- The growth surface has collapsed: fewer knobs on the UI, more focus on model quality, embedded growth in product itself.  

- We’re racing on a moving treadmill: product-market fit isn’t a one-time milestone, it’s a continuous state in this AI era.  

- Roles are blending; structures are messy; you *must* author your role and navigate the ambiguity.  

Bottom-line: The current environment rewards people who can create clarity instead of waiting for it.

Hi, I’m Will.

My mission in life is to improve the health and prosperity of the people in my community. I think that our society should be measured by how easily the most disadvantaged can get ahead and I strive to do my bit to enable this.

In 2015, I started a charity that helped get over 250,000 kids coding in our schools. I have advised 100s of founders on how to grow their businesses in a sustainable way. But, the contribution I am most proud of is the one I get to make to our healthcare system through my work at Ausmed.

Ausmed is an Australian provider of continuous improvement solutions to the healthcare community. It was founded in 1987 by my mum, Cynthea Wellings, whom as a nurse, saw a need for Australia to have its own healthcare publishing house. I admire and have learned a lot from the passion and determination she brought to work every single day.

I grew up working in the family business. My mum taught me my business skills and my dad taught me how to code.

On school holidays we would head in to help her team pack boxes of books, reply to emails or simply clean up the warehouse. It was then that I first learned about the amazing work nurses, midwives, carers and indeed everyone who works in healthcare does on a daily basis. This work aligned with my personal vision, and I was hooked on healthcare.

Since joining Ausmed full time in 2007, I have worked alongside our exceptional team to transition the business away from printed books, towards highly integrated software and content products. Today, Ausmed’s products are used over 1.5 million times a year.

As the second-generation CEO of a family-run business, I strive to continue to uphold the trust and rich reputation of the Ausmed name whilst bringing new innovations to the industry. In everything that I do, I strive to support the people of our healthcare sector to provide the best care possible. This is what we stand for at Ausmed — Improving Care.

"Learn by doing" is coming to eLearning.

Almost all eLearning today is didactic in nature, focused on knowledge distribution to the learner through video, audio or text-based activities.

The learner is expected to memorise the information and assessments are designed to assess knowledge recall.

Experiential learning, by contrast, is a method of learning by doing.

The learner gets to apply a skill and reflect on their performance and experience having done so, combining hands-on activity with critical thinking to create knowledge. 

This cyclical process involves concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualisation, and active experimentation.

Examples include role-plays, simulations and problem-based learning, which develop skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Didactic learning is not bad; it's just not always the best way to learn. But it has become the default due to the previous limitations of eLearning technology.

The experiential phase of learning largely disappeared when e-learning scaled. 

This had the unintended consequence of shifting our mindsets to focus on compliance or completion scores not capability.

The advent of gen-AI will has the potential to change all of this.

By embedding an LLMs into the learning experience we can offer highly dynamic learning experiences that support the learner to learn by doing.

Key takeaway? Don't start an AI initiative by pitching at the executive level. Start at the frontline and solve for problems your people are already having.

Spoiler alert: if there’s one thing gen-ai will change it’s this.

Health workforces do the same training or are assessed the same way regardless of their experience, workplace policies and procedures, job role, scope of practice or who they provide care to.

We think generative-AI has the potential to change this.

Gen-AI provides the opposite experience – a highly personalised and contextualised learning experience every time, completely bespoke to the level of the learner and their input.

It uses its memory and context window to build a historical understanding of the learner’s ability and preferences which in turn further improve the personalised nature of its responses.

Ausmed has spent the past few years in a really exciting research and development cycle focused on exploring the practical opportunity of using Gen-AI or Large Language Models (LLMs) in the context of building capability in health, aged and disability care.
