When someone says, “I’m afraid of taking on too much,” they’re not talking about the task.

The mistake is rushing in with reassurance.

That language doesn’t move the needle.
So, what does?
 
Grounding them in their own words.

𝗧𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱:
 
Earlier, you said solving this mattered because staying where you are feels heavier than moving forward. 

Is that still true?
 
If they say yes, the desire is still there. 

Fear just grabbed the mic.
 
So ask the real question: 

What feels like “too much:” the work itself, or the idea of doing it without backup?
 
Because here’s the quiet part: 

People aren’t overwhelmed by the steps per say...

When you reflect that back:

Authority means ownership, it’s the ability to say here’s what I know and here’s what I’m still learning.

Business leaders… here’s something I wish someone said to me earlier:

A lot of the “problems” we’re tinkering with aren’t actually difficult,
they’re just… open.

Slightly undone.

Hovering in the background like a chore you keep moving to tomorrow’s to-do list.

And because they feel unfinished, we convince ourselves they still need more attention.

More context.
More thinking.
More tweaking.

(When really, they need 10 focused minutes and a decision.)

But here’s the psychological trap:

Every unfinished problem eats capacity.
And capacity is the currency you need to solve the bigger problems; 
The ones you actually get paid for.

This is the part that stings a little:

Small problems = small money.
Bigger problems solved well = bigger money.

It’s not personal.
It’s economics.
It’s leadership psychology.

It’s how value gets assigned in organizations.

If you keep babysitting yesterday’s problems, you cap your earning ceiling today.
