After graduating from high school in Diamond Bar, California, Ed Mylett attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton. A student-athlete who balanced his studies in communications with playing baseball for the NCAA Division I Pacific Tigers, Ed Mylett graduated from Pacific as a three-time All-American and the NCAA leader in stolen bases. Following college, he worked as a youth counselor for underprivileged boys.

Because of his outstanding ability to inspire leaders, Ed Mylett quickly advanced at WFG, becoming one of the company's youngest CEO Marketing Directors in only a few years. Who am I: My journey spans across 17 years of working with startups. From being Fiverr's first design hire, to mentoring at Google Launchpad (and being trained by them on their methods), co-founding my own startup - Tapdog, later to be acquired by Similarweb where I became Design Director, and learning from design leaders at top tech firms such as Airbnb, Facebook, Google, Apple, Etsy, Intercom, and more. 

I’ve spent the last 9 years distilling this experience into methodologies that empower startups and proving them out in the open market.

I realized I never properly introduced myself here.

So let's fix that.

I'm Sagi. 42. Israeli. Husband. Dad of 3.

I was the first designer at Fiverr.

Then I co-founded a startup with friends. We got acquired by Similarweb, where I became their first inhouse designer too.

Built the design operation in the company. Hired the initial team. Created the design systems.

Somewhere in between, I became a Google Launchpad Mentor for UI/UX. Did that for over 7 years. That's where I met Gal Agadi (my partner in Gravity - Founder Led Branding)

While all this was happening, I was building content brands.

First with Pixel Perfect in Israel. Then internationally with Hacking UI.
Our Hacking UI Podcast took off internationally, I interviewed design managers from companies like Facebook, Google, Apple, Adobe and more.
 
That ride (making content, selling courses, teaching methodologies) kicked me into becoming an actual business owner.

In 2020, I took everything I knew and started Contrast - UI/UX Design Agency.
Today we're 15 designers strong, working with global startups and our VP Design is the one and only Oran Ziv (ex. Gett, Wix, Duda, Promo).

A few months ago, Gal Agadi presented me with an opportunity to join Gravity as co-founder. A company he built around helping founders build personal brands. I grabbed it with both hands.

So now I'm running two companies:
1. Contrast UX: Product clarity for startups
2. Gravity: Brand clarity for founders

We're working on our own saas now in which we serve our clients, and we're writing a book about building (and becoming) a personal brand. Coming 2026.

So.. this is who I am :)

9 years ago we started a tradition with  international guests - that we enjoy up to this day.

Every time a client visits us in Israel, we do something special. We take them to a tour day in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is about an hour from Tel Aviv. But it feels like a completely different country. A different era, almost.
There's something about walking through that city. The spirituality. The history. The vibe of this place. 

You stop talking about deliverables and timelines. You start talking about meaning. About what you're actually building and why.
About life. 

Just old stones, good food, and deep conversations.

And every single time, something clicks. The relationship changes. It gets deeper. More fun. More us.

The people we meet there, the energy of the place, the mix of ancient and alive. It does something to you that a Zoom call or even meeting in person at the office will NEVER do.

So if you're a client and/or friend of ours reading this and you're thinking about visiting Israel, know this: we're taking you to Jerusalem 🙌

It won't be a regular work day.

It'll be one of the best days we spend together. 

And Israeli business owners- you're welcome to try this with your visiting colleagues and let us know how it was.

I just realized something that made me smile :) 

While everyone's freaking out about AI taking their jobs, I notice that there is a light there...

We - the professionals who know the art of asking the right QUESTIONS , while understanding product and business - are about to get superpowers.

Microsoft's AI CEO said this week that AI will handle human-level professional tasks in 12–18 months.

Law. Accounting. Marketing. Project management. Design...

And yeah, my feed exploded with panic. I did too at first.

"RIP designers."
"RIP developers." 
"RIP marketers."
F* that.

If AI handles the execution of professional tasks in 18 months, the one thing it will never do is decide WHICH tasks matter.

AI can write the brief. 
It can't decide what to build.

AI can design the screens. 
It can't know what the customer actually needs. Or which components will fit better for them.

AI can draft the contract. 
It can't build the relationship that makes the client sign it.

For 17 years, I've been in rooms where brilliant execution on the wrong thing destroyed product companies.

The commodity has always been execution.

The moat has always been judgment.

AI just makes that distinction impossible to ignore.

So while everyone's mourning their profession, I'm asking a different question:

How much of your career have you spent building judgment vs. just executing? 

Because if you've been asking the right questions, knowing what actually matters, understanding which problems are worth solving...

You're not getting replaced.

You're getting a superpower.

LinkedIn rewards two types of hooks, what are they? And… a bit about why we're building the opposite!

Gal and I started Gravity with one mission: to help people build real reputations! Not only on Linkedin, we’ve just started here. But we’re seeing something troubling going on:

Linkedin algorithm is rewarding two types of hooks (hook = the first two sentences that “hook” you in to read a post): 
1) Scarcity hooks: Hooks that work on Fear. on FOMO. "Comment PLAYBOOK and I'll DM you."
2) Arrogance hooks: Hooks that work on claims that make someone read and engage with the post just to see the author of the post can prove his/her point. It’s another kind of FOMO.

Both types makes you wanna puke in your mouth just a bit.  Definitely not want to really connect with their author. It’s a short term lead-attraction method for the authors, but a bad tactic for long term personal branding in our opinion.
Those posts get reach. But they destroy trust 🤷‍♂️

I believe that even if you can't go viral on LinkedIn, you can still build a reputation that matters.
When someone wants to work with you, where do they go to check you out? LinkedIn.
We believe one should aim for content that when people land on your profile and see your authentic content - they immediately think: "I only want to work with THIS person!"

We've actually also heard this exact phrase from our clients' prospects multiple times.

Authentic content works. Not for reach. For reputation! For the long term!

The scarcity playbook (fear tactics, urgency, FOMO) might work short-term, but you'll attract the wrong people and damage your reputation long-term.

What actually works: Consistent, authentic content that makes your ideal clients feel seen and understood.

The mindset as I believe - should be “Personal branding is a MARATHON. Not a sprint.”

Building a positive - long-term reputation - in an industry where people know you, trust you, and want to work with you because of the person and professional they perceive you are.

Don't worry, you're not going anywhere.

"Build a 7-figure software company with zero employees." 

I keep seeing this headline everywhere.

I get the appeal. It's a great story. One person, a laptop, Claude Code, and a million-dollar business.

But I run 2 agencies that work with founders every day, and see what's actually happening behind the scenes.

The founders building real 7-figure arr software companies right now - they're not doing it alone.

They're working with developers and designers who know how to use AI inside their workflows. 

People who were already good at what they do, and now they're just 10x faster because of these tools.

The barrier to entry didn't disappear, it just makes a solo entrepreneur building a POC possible, but doesn't eliminate good professionals.

Yes, you don't need a team of tens of developers to get to scale, but you don't need zero people either.

You need the right 3 or 4 people who are savvy enough to multiply their output with AI. 

A great designer using AI is not the same thing as no designer at all. Not even close.

"Zero employees" makes a killer hook for content I'll give it that.

But in reality? The entrepreneurs actually building startups aren't figuring out how to work alone. 

They're still figuring out WHO to work with.

Same skill that got them to where they are.

And honestly, a much harder one, because now it's building and testing ai agents aside from recruiting real talents to their teams.

How an Israeli music podcast reminded me of a great brand & product strategy

There's an awesome Israeli music podcast I love called "Shir Echad" (One Song). It breaks down Israeli music hits and the behind-the-scenes of what made them a success.

One episode specifically blew my mind.

An artist called Ella Lee wanted to bring K-pop to Israeli mainstream. Problem is, older audiences don't get K-pop. It's too foreign. Too different. Too new.

So her producers did something brilliant.

They planted familiar beats inside the K-pop sound. Backstreet Boys-era pop. 90s house music. Even "I'm a Barbie Girl" tempo style beat. 

Stuff the older crowd already knew, 

Stuff that was already planted in their (our) subconscious minds.

They just baked it into something that felt fresh on the surface.

The older audience didn't know why they liked it. But their subconscious recognized it. And the song broke through.

This is exactly what author and entrepreneur -  Oren Klaff calls "Plain Vanilla with a twist."

Every product that goes mainstream follows this pattern. You don't present something radically new. You present something familiar in new packaging. The twist gets attention. The vanilla gets adoption!

I think about this constantly when building digital products and personal brands for founders. If your audience has to work too hard to understand what you're offering, you've already lost them.

The real skill isn't innovation. It's disguising innovation as something people already trust.

"Don't trust the process."

That was the title of a talk by Jenny Wen, Lead Designer at Anthropic (Claude) at the Hatch Conference in Berlin a month ago.

She started by breaking down how designers still build personas, user journeys, all the classic UX stuff. Then she said: 

None of this matters anymore!

And I sat there thinking, wait. It does matter. Wht do you mean!?

She's right that the game changed. Anyone can prototype now. AI lets you skip straight to building. 

You don't need a long time to show stakeholders what something could look like.

But here's where I disagree.

The process is the only thing that separates good product work from guessing.

Design sprints, user research, getting out of the building and talking to real humans. That's not bureaucracy. That's how you figure out what people actually want. And how they think. And what pisses them off.

A couple weeks ago at a client workshop - I used Miro flows and tried replacing parts of our own process with AI. 

You know what happened? 

People still needed to argue through their ideas. 

They needed to sit as a team and have an intellectual discussion. 

The founder needed to share his vision. 

It is them humans that needed to create the sticky notes of ideas of what to build for other humans!

AI is amazing, but it can't replace the messy human part where the real decisions get made.

AI makes the process faster. Not unnecessary.

If anything, it raises the bar. You can now test in weeks what used to take months. But you still need to know what to test and why.

The process isn't dead. It just got an upgrade. 

When anyone comes up to me and says "don't trust the process, just wing it" - that's where I allow my human critical thinking to kick in.

We need more design leaders to come on stage whether physically or here in LinkedIn and share their vision processes (and thoughts about processes), especially nowadays as things are changing so fast.
