Mr. Ed Mylett is one of the top business leaders, peak performance experts, and global keynote speakers in the world today. While many leaders and speakers just “talk the talk,” Ed is a team-made millionaire who has built one of the most prolific financial service businesses the world has ever seen. 

After graduating from high school in Diamond Bar, California, Ed Mylett attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton. A student-athlete who balanced his studies in communications with playing baseball for the NCAA Division I Pacific Tigers, Ed Mylett graduated from Pacific as a three-time All-American and the NCAA leader in stolen bases. Following college, he worked as a youth counselor for underprivileged boys.

Ed joined World Financial Group (WFG) in 1992. Because of his outstanding ability to inspire leaders, Ed Mylett quickly advanced at WFG, becoming one of the company's youngest CEO Marketing Directors in only a few years. After he achieved the top level of a Senior Executive Vice Chairman and then joined the WFG leadership team as a Chairman's Council member and as the Director of Field Leadership at WFG. 

Ed has a passion for mentoring and coaching others on what it takes to become a champion in all areas of life. He has shared the stage and has very close personal relationships with other business legends such as Tony Robbins, John Maxwell, Phil Knight and many others.

What a weekend!

As a dad (oldest being our only daughter), there’s no moment bigger than this.   

We got to be with Presley as she chose to be baptized at her church in Lexington KY. 

We got to meet her friends, eat some good food, and celebrate all God is doing in her life. 

This season has brought so much change and to know she has her community of great people & priorities aligned is such a joy and cool thing to see.  

What blessing and something we’ve prayed for and to have our family & so many of Presley’s amazing friends all there to experience it was extra special.

10 lessons the last decade has taught me.

The older I get, the more I realize success changes.

A decade ago I probably measured it by production, titles, and milestones.

Those things still matter.

But what matters most has become a lot clearer.

Here are a few lessons life keeps reinforcing:
1.	Time is the real scoreboard. Where you spend it reveals your priorities.
2.	Reputation compounds. Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room.
3.	Consistency beats intensity. In business, faith, fitness, and family.
4.	The right people change everything. Teams, partners, friendships.
5.	Peace is underrated. Winning means less if it costs you what matters most.
6.	Your kids are always watching. Not what you say. How you live.
7.	You can start over anytime. New seasons require courage.
8.	Faith clarifies decisions. A strong foundation simplifies life.
9.	Presence beats perfection. At home and at work.
10.	The greatest wins rarely happen in the office.

Which brings me to tonight.

I’m driving to Lexington with our family because tomorrow is a big day.

Our oldest daughter Presley decided to be baptized. 🙌

And she asked me to baptize her. ❤️

There are moments in business & my sports career that I’m definitely I’m proud of.
But none of them come close to this one.

Watching your child choose their own relationship with Jesus is something you can’t manufacture.

It’s a gift.

This weekend is a reminder that while careers matter…

Faith and family will always matter more.

Grateful for the season we’re in. 🙌🙏

Proverbs 17:22 says,
“A cheerful heart is good medicine.”

That is not fake positivity.
That is leadership.

In this market I see it:

Discouraged leaders.
Drained producers.
Teams hitting goals but losing joy.

And here is the truth:

When your spirit is off, everything is off.
Your tone.
Your presence.
Your decisions.

Joy is not pretending it is easy.
It is believing God is still good when things get hard.  

In mortgage.
In leadership.
In life.

Joy stabilizes you when rates move.
When a recruit says no.
When a client backs out.

A crushed spirit dries you out.
Joy fuels you.

So I am asking myself:

Where have I believed joy is not for me in this season?
What is one small decision today that brings it back?

We set the emotional thermostat as leaders.

Lead alive.
Not just active.

Decide today who you’re becoming.

Not just what you want to achieve…
but the man or woman you’re building your life around becoming.

Then ask a better question:

What would that person do today?

How would they start their morning?
How would they run their business?
What would they prioritize?

But more importantly…

What would they say no to?

One thing I’ve noticed about the most successful people I know:

They say no far more than they say yes.

Not because they lack opportunities…
but because they have too many.

And they understand something most people miss:

Time is the most valuable resource you have.

How you invest it will dictate who you become.

So if you’re building a business or leading a team, ask yourself:

• Are the right people in the right roles?
• Are your standards clear?
• Are you protecting time for sales, recruiting, and relationships?
• Are you surrounding yourself with people who elevate your thinking?

Because proximity matters.

Spend time with people focused on health… 
✅ your habits improve.
Spend time with people building teams… 
✅ your vision expands.
Spend time with people who are disciplined financially… 
✅your decisions sharpen.

Success leaves clues.

And often the fastest way to grow is simply getting around people already doing what you want to do.

So the real question today:

Who are you becoming… and do your daily decisions match that person?

AI is advancing fast.
But I’m seeing another gap opening up…

Soft skills.

Yesterday I was talking with a great real estate agent here in Nashville about AI, automation, and where things are going.

Systems are improving.
Playbooks are everywhere.
Technology is accelerating.

But something else is quietly declining.

Presence.

The ability to truly listen.
To stay focused in a conversation.
To be fully engaged in a moment.

Look around in meetings, on Zoom calls, or even at dinner tables.

People are there…
but they’re not all there.

Phones on the table.
Eyes drifting.
Half listening while thinking about the next thing.

In a distracted world, presence is becoming a competitive advantage.

This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot since building my talk around The Presence Effect.

Your ability to:

• Listen deeply
• Stay engaged
• Ask thoughtful questions
• Be fully present with someone

Those aren’t “nice to have” skills anymore.

They are leadership skills.
Sales skills.
Recruiting skills.
Relationship skills.

One unexpected way I’ve trained this muscle is podcasting.

Over 200 episodes into the Competitive Edge Podcast, I’ve realized something:

You can’t fake presence.

Hosting requires preparation.
Listening without interrupting.
Responding in real time.
Following the conversation instead of forcing it.

It trains you to be in the moment.

Another simple practice?

When you sit down with someone…

Put your phone away.

Not face down.
Not on the table.
Actually away.

The signal it sends matters.

In a world racing toward AI, automation, and efficiency…

The leaders who win will still be the ones who master human connection.

Technology may scale information.

But presence builds trust.

In this market, expansion like this doesn’t happen by accident.

Our pipeline has more than tripled heading into next month. Our onboarding team has executed at a high level. Operations has been steady and strong.  Training, on boarding & overall support is excellent allowing us to create quick wins.  

What excites me most is how aligned everything feels. It operates like a focused, high-performance company inside a larger platform.

We’re seeing real growth in capability:

• Non-QM execution that is simple & scalable
• Teams doubling production 
• Strong support to get things done 
• Fast decisions with eliminating layers
