The work as the design engineer intern contains the characterization of packaging-induced effects on the output behavior of the pressure sensor and the creation of a model to describe full adhesive and package properties of the sensor and their influence on short-term as well as long-term effects of the pressure sensors' die performance.
Work entailed:
•      Full understanding of the different die designs and the consequences of the stress distribution throughout the pressure sensor system
•      In-depth knowledge of the materials that are used for the sensor and its package.
•      Advanced understanding of viscoelastic effects of polymer-based materials
•      Creating an adjustable model with all materials parameters in Ansys
•	Decreasing testing time by moving characterization tests to simulation environment
•	Characterizing and simulating semiconductor packaging materials 
•	Testing and characterizing production-related equipment
•	Data Analysis in Excel
•	Sensor and sensor packaging characterization 


Other works in the R&D department included but were not limited to:
•	Updating and writing new software in C++ and Excel VBA for existing characterization systems. 
•	Writing a fully automated data analysis tool for the characterization system in Excel VBA
•	Characterization of various different pressure sensors and analysis of their performance
•	Programming production-related equipment in LabView
•	Working closely with vendors for multiple buy-offs of production relevant tools
