After graduating Cum Laude from Southern College of Optometry, I completed an internship at Charleston Air Force Base, specializing in ocular disease and contact lenses. Shortly after, I acquired my first optometry practice and grew it into multiple locations. I now coach fellow optometrists to do the same—helping them implement proven strategies for growth and sustainability. 

But my journey didn’t stop there.

My love for investing, travel, and adventure inspired me to launch Expedition Equity, an investment firm that treats wealth-building as an expedition—navigating uncharted paths to achieve long-term freedom.

Should your passion pay the bills?
Or should it just be… fun? 🎭
 
❌ The myth: “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
✔️ The truth: Passions shift. Bills don’t.
 
What you loved at 20 might not even make the list at 30.
And what lights you up now? You probably wouldn’t have touched back then.
 
That’s the tricky part:
Passions take time to discover. And they evolve.
 
So here’s my take 👇
Focus on one or two things that actually pay the bills...
And let hobbies breathe—without the pressure to perform.
And if the two worlds merge? Amazing. But if they don’t? That’s okay too.
 
Because chasing joy doesn’t always mean monetizing it.
Sometimes passion just needs space to be passion.

I was reminded of this at a recent women’s leadership conference.

I know that fear well.
