I know I neglected you last year...

I know my inconsistency and hot/cold standoffish attitude with you has left a sour taste 

I know I need to practice what I preach 

I am truly awfully sorry about the way i treated you, it was never you... it was me... 

But this year will be different, i promise! 

Can we be friends again?

You win some, you lose some
- However, it hits harder when it is personal
 
In my post yesterday I declared I would share all my highs and lows, professionally and personally, during this chapter (Chapter 29), so here it is, my loss today
 
Last year I applied for my daughter to move schools due to moving to a new area (and other reasons which i won't disclose) 
 
The school in question is within walking distance from our home; however is oversubscribed (It is a brand new school and has a great Ofsted rating, it comes as no surprise it is oversubscribed)
 
My application was declined
 
After speaking with some of the Mums at Ivy's school, they suggested appealing the decision due to the reasons for the move 
 
The whole process was through:
- Hours and hours of research
- Carefully constructed appeal statement
- Revised points in objections
- Ensuring I remained unbiased and neutral throughout
 
Today, I had the panel hearing
 
It was a nerve-wracking experience (at no fault of the process or panel - the panel even reassured me), however, I've been in many high-importance meetings but never felt so up a height
 
Because it was personal
 
And as a Mum, it held much more weight than a typical board meeting
 
I stayed true to my values throughout, all of my reasoning and points were truthful, evidence-based and well researched - I point-blank refuse to throw in untruthful reasoning just to get my foot through the door
 
However, it wasn't enough
 
The appeal was declined
 
Now, I don’t believe their reasoning for the decision was completely unjust; however, I still feel like I failed
 
We are back to square one
 
This may seem trivial to most, and distasteful in that there are children who don't have the luxury of an education system - please know I am always grateful for the life we live
  
The reason I'm sharing this is to create awareness around the silent battles and challenges we face as parents, as humans - trying to navigate this life to the best of our ability, but still have the means to stay present at work or in everyday life
 
Life sometimes doesn't go our way, and curveballs are presented
 
Rejection is just redirection 

But i will say - You develop a different level of resilience and tenacity as a parent 😅 - we all just want the best life for our children at the end of the day
