For most businesses, this is around 80% of revenue.

Think: continuity
	•	Membership

	•	Retainer
	•	Subscription

People buy once… and keep buying.

Last week, I spoke to a Founder running a $700K coaching business. And he’s exhausted.

Everything looks good on the surface. 

Revenue is growing quickly, but he's managing a team of 25 coaches.

But as revenue goes up, so does acquisition cost (and so does stress). 

So this Founder:

→ Relies heavily on cold traffic
→ Needs to 'push to close' prospects on calls
→ Uses paid ads to top up the 'funnel', eating into margins

Even with great top line numbers, below the surface, he's super stressed out, because conversion takes a lot of work, time and resources (meaning profit margin is very low).

For me, it's not about how much I make, but how much I get to keep.

Revenue growth is great, profit is better.

Last year, we hit seven-figure revenue AND 70% profit margins. We did it through podcast guesting and warm partnerships.

By borrowing other people’s trusted audiences, our cost of client acquisition is basically zero. 

Which, of course, provides a lot more room for margin. And there's no ad expense to eat into our profits.

I’ll admit something a little uncomfortable.

The more I use AI… the easier writing becomes.
But the harder it is to hear my own voice.

Everything comes out clear, polished, and more thoughtful.

The more help I accept from AI the more it starts to sound less like me.

The recommended writing pattern is obvious:
"Clean. Effective. Everywhere."

The little imperfections get smoothed out to sound "authoritative".

But I can’t help but wonder:

Am I writing to sound good… or to sound like me?

When do we hit a breaking point?
When does following what works… stop working?

Is AI changing your voice? Does it matter?

Best practices are bullshit.

Here's an example.

Should you send email campaigns while someone is still in the welcome flow?

If I were to ask 10 brands, 8 would have no clue.

Because nobody actually tests.

They just do what they've been told is "best practice."

We've tested this across a number of brands, and the truth is it's 100% dependent on your specific situation.

→ What's the product?
→ What's the AOV? 
→ How quickly do customers convert? 
→ Are your campaigns talking about the same product? 
→ Are your campaign offers bigger than your welcome offer?

These factors completely change the answer.

Stop blindly following "best practices."

Set up an A/B test with cohorts and find out what actually works for your brand.

The best practice is testing what works for you.

Facebook lead forms are trash! 

The emails we get into these lists are filled with bots, inactive emails and super low intent prospects. 

The deliverability issues aren't worth the trouble. 

Low cost leads are cheap for a reason. 

Change my mind.

We've been using Claude in our agency over OpenAI's ChatGPT for a while now and love the bold ad.  No notes.

Bonus points for using a Dr. Dre throwback. 90s hip hop remains undefeated.

Ads are coming to AI. But not to Claude. Keep thinking.

Looking for some use cases for Claude Cowork? 

Here's one I did last week.

1️⃣ Download your Linkedin Data. It's under Me > Settings & Privacy > Data Privacy > Download your Data

2️⃣ Give Claude Cowork access to the folder with these files and ask it to merge useful individual CSV files into one spreadsheet.  Example: Merge Messages + Connections by adding columns into the Connections sheet for number of messages exchanged with this contact, the first date a message was sent, the last date a message was sent and who was the last person to send that message. 

3️⃣ Sort your new spreadsheet by number of messages to find the people you contact the most. Scan through and find people you haven't talked to in a while and reach out for a catch up coffee. 

I'm just getting starting playing around with Cowork but it seems pretty powerful.
