Most at-home colon cancer tests look for disease after it’s already there. The real question now is whether we can catch risk before cancer forms.

Existing stool tests focus on human signals. Viome Dx  is taking a different approach. Instead of asking whether a tumor or polyp is already shedding material, it looks at microbial RNA, how gut bacteria and host biology are behaving before visible polyps appear.

Polyps are what we remove to prevent colon cancer. If tests miss polyps, they miss the prevention window.

Can microbial RNA detect polyps better and earlier than human-only signals??

The early data from the Scripps Health partnership suggests it might.  I can't count how many times I’ve found polyps on people who shouldn't have them. 

This test could allow gastroenterologists to find polyps early, and remove them before there’s a chance they progress to cancer 

It’s a step toward true prevention, not just earlier diagnosis.
