Training Consultant

Development and facilitation of new hire training for the Lightspeed's product suite: Retail, OnSite Restaurant and eCommerce. I loved reading Chris O'Neill’s post today about the two very different role models he had in his grandfathers. One who taught him the power of story and connection, and another who modeled grit and perseverance.

It made me think about my own dad, who would have turned 75 today. HBD dad. 

Like Chris, I’m now realizing how much storytelling keeps people alive. How the ones who shaped us live on through the way we talk about them, the values we pass down, and the habits that show up in our daily lives.

My dad was the kind of person who always made time (like really made time)for family, despite being a busy CEO. Who showed love not through big speeches but through quiet consistency. He died when my 3 girls were little, and I sometimes worry he’s only a story they’ll hear or a face they’ll recognize from my photo album.

But maybe that’s what storytelling is meant to do. To keep the essence of someone alive long after they’re gone. The laughter, the lessons, the love, all still here, just told in new voices.

A good reminder that the stories we leave behind are written in how we show up today, at work and at home. The impact we have, the connections we nurture, the time we choose to make. Those moments become our legacy.

Let’s notice the people in our lives who choose to make the time, and let’s cheers to the stories that outlive us.
