Asif is the Chief Global Inclusion Officer  for Warner Bros. Discovery, he was previously the Global Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Social Impact at adidas and has a long and rich career in the diversity and inclusion space with senior executive roles at The Telegraph Media Group, EY Financial Services and the City of London Police. He is a board member for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and a member of the board of advisors for Hedley May. Over his 20-year career he has worked in Europe, North America, Middle East, Africa and Asia.  
  
Asif has been credited with impactful global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion activities and programs across organizations, that have created a strong sense of belonging for all and resulted in truly diverse workplaces. He has been key in building synergies between internal and external D&I efforts within organizations, ensuring diversity and inclusion is embedded in all elements of a business, resulting in innovative, creative and inclusive products and services.   
  
Asif is listed as one of the most influential Global D&I Leaders by Hive Learning, the CIPD’s Top 20 Power list and a LinkedIn Influencer. He is winner of numerous awards including the highly commended Head of Diversity Award at the European Diversity Awards and was honoured with an MBE in 2017 by the Queen and granted the freedom of the City of London in 2016. He is a member of the HR Guild, The Worshipful  Company of Security Professionals, a Companion at CMI and is a Freeman of the City.  

He is a passionate and inspirational Global Leader, co author and a renowned keynote speaker with the ability to empower individuals and create a truly inclusive environment for all. Asif has been key in implementing D&I activities and programs as well as connecting with stakeholders at all levels of organisations to build strong and influential relationships with influencers. Asif acts as a role model, providing governance across businesses on D&I and is committed to creating a strong sense of belonging for all.

Asif was granted an honorary doctorate by The Open University in recognition of his innovative and socially responsible business developments and exceptional contributions in the field of diversity, inclusion and belonging globally. He is a regular Tedx speaker, where he has spoken on topics ranging from the journey from Diversity and Inclusion to belonging to creating psychological safety for all.

I’m allergic to companies who don’t call themselves a family.

I really don’t like how Netflix 
phrases it.

They use the term “professional sports team.”

Not a family.

Here’s how they phrase it:

“We model ourselves on being a professional sports team, not a family.

A family is about unconditional love.

A dream team is about pushing yourself to be the best possible teammate, caring intensely about your team, and knowing that you may not be on the team forever.

Dream teams are about performance, not seniority or tenure.

It is up to the manager to ensure that every player is amazing at their position, plays effectively with others and is given new opportunities to develop.

That’s how we keep winning the championship (entertaining the world).

Unlike a sports team, as Netflix grows, the number of players also grows.

We work to foster players from the development leagues so they can become the stars of tomorrow.”

Nothing says “professional sports team” like benching someone for missing a quarterly KPI.

Nothing says “professional sports team” like calling timeouts on mentorship and culture.

Nothing says “professional sports team” like substituting humans mid-season because stats aren’t hitting targets.

Nothing says “professional sports team” like drafting rookies from “development leagues” just to see if they’ll make the highlight reel.

Hard pass, Netflix.

A company may run plays and track stats.
It may even have a playbook.

But it is only a family if it actually nurtures the players — not just the scoreboard.

A company is definitely a family.

It just has to value people, not just performance metrics.

Don’t get them mixed up.

I absolutely love reading the comments on posts by some LinkedIn Top Voices.

It’s like watching a poor rap battle where the first rapper steps on stage and everyone else immediately becomes his backup dancer.

Author drops a bar:

“Vulnerability is a leadership superpower.”

Comments rush in:

“Yes. Vulnerability is everything.”
“This. Leaders must be vulnerable.”
“Exactly. Vulnerability builds trust.”
“Couldn’t agree more with this take.”

No one counters the verse.
No one questions the rhyme.
No one dares to say no.

It’s a rap battle with:
→ no diss tracks
→ no punchlines
→ no risk
→ and unlimited applause

Everyone just rewrites the same bar
with different emojis and calls it thought leadership.

That’s not a battle.

That’s a karaoke night where everyone sings the chorus and skips the verses.

Know what I’m sayin’?

I ignored several connection requests today.

Why?

Sometimes, you just can't be bothered.
