LEX Markets offered a new way to access the benefits of institutionally underwritten commercial real estate properties. Lex shareholders could buy equity (via Reg A) in a discreet commercial real estate property, receive pro rata distributions alongside the owner, buy or sell shares in the OTC Market via the LEX Alternative Trading System (ATS) without lockups or hold periods. If the underlying asset is sold, shareholders receive their pro rata proceeds without fees or carried interest. All investors could invest through LEX. It was a great idea but the headwinds were gale force.
