I am a highly qualified leadership development specialist, public speaker, and training facilitator with over 20 years of coaching experience. Previously, I served as the Director of Operations and Coaching at Lead 'Em Up, where I played a key role in managing database administration, curriculum design, email campaigns, community engagement, and copywriting. During my tenure, I led both inside and outside sales efforts, designed program curriculums, created blog content, co-hosted the Lead 'Em Up Podcast, facilitated live training sessions, and managed social media accounts. My work in customer relationship management, onboarding, curriculum implementation, and sales showcases my comprehensive skill set.
I also have over eight years of experience designing, developing, and delivering learning and development programs using diverse delivery methods and effectiveness measures.

My background is in education included serving as an Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate instructor and basketball coach at Southeast High School in Florida. Prior to that, I was a social studies instructor and coach at Orchard Farm High School in Missouri.  

I am an experienced and engaging public speaker, having presented at industry conferences such as IFCEE (the world’s largest geo-engineering and geo-construction conference) and Glazier Clinics. I really excel in facilitating live and virtual presentations, team workshops, and corporate staff training sessions.

A lifelong learner, I am deeply committed to continual growth. I avidly reads about leadership, coaching, and self-development. I like to utilize my social media presence to share insights, foster connections, and expand my influence.

Most importantly, I am a devoted husband to Angie Elmendorf, and together we have two sons.

Did you ever think that you had it all figured out?

I know the late teen/early 20’s version of myself did…

And boy was he wrong!

There’s a line from the 2008 Academy Award winning film Crash that says, 
“You think you know who you are…you have no idea.”

That line has always stuck with me, because it reminds me of my younger (and less wise) self.

What I once thought was lame, I now cherish!

I used to think going to bed late was cool, but now I want to be asleep by 10pm.

I used to hate waking up early, but now I love sunrises.
I used to watch sports all night, now I love sunsets. 

The simple things in life are the best things. 

I cherish walks with my wife and dog. 
I love watching my kids play outside and hang with friends.
I love just sitting outside and listening to great music or letting my thoughts wonder.

It’s funny how the 18-20 year old me thought I had it all figured out. 
The things that brought me the most joy then are not the same as the ones that do today.

Just like the weather seasons, we change in our seasons of life. 

Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. 

Enjoy each moment, they go by too fast.

That’s the good stuff!

What’s a simple joy in life that you now cherish?

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a good idea and thought, “I’ll remember that later.”

But later never has the same spark.

The energy fades. The magic’s gone.

So I’ve started doing something different.

When inspiration hits, I stop and build it out.

Even if it’s raw. Even if it’s not perfect.

Because I’ve learned this...

It’s better to have fewer ideas that are strong and finished
than dozens of weak ones floating around in your notes app.

Inspiration has a short shelf life.

Don’t let yours expire.

Capture it. 
Build it. 
Act on it.

My grandpa and dad taught me a lesson I’ll never forget.

And the crazy part? 

They never actually said it.

They modeled it.

Growing up, I watched both of them treat people with kindness and respect—everywhere we went, no matter who it was, and without ever expecting anything in return.

They didn’t shake hands hoping for favors.
They didn’t help people to gain leverage.
They didn’t show respect only when it benefited them.

They did it because it was the right thing to do.

And years later, the lesson finally clicked:

That’s what real leaders do.

Great leaders go out of their way to treat people well—not as a strategy, but as a standard. 

It’s who they are. And ironically, that’s exactly why people follow them.

Influence doesn’t come from force, titles, or charisma.
Influence comes from the way you make people feel.

Care.
Respect.
Kindness.
Consistency.

When people experience those things from you, they lean in.

They trust you.

They see you as someone worth following.

My grandpa and dad never taught leadership theory.
They taught leadership by example.

And maybe that’s the reminder we all need today:

Someone is learning how to lead by watching you. Make sure you’re modeling something worth following.
