Too many smart people in tech are quietly burning out.

I saw it everywhere and eventually, I realised it was happening to me too.

Over six years ago, I hit my own wall.

On paper, things were going well; solid projects, a good reputation, dependable results. But underneath, I was drained and quietly asking myself: Is this how it’s meant to be?

That question changed everything.

I stepped back, paid attention to what was helping and what wasn’t, and began rebuilding from the inside out. Over time, some clear patterns emerged. How I thought, how I acted, what mattered to me, how I managed my energy, and what helped me keep going.

That’s what eventually became the MOVES Framework.

Most of the tech professionals I meet today are smart, capable, and driven, but quietly running on empty.

They’ve done everything right: built strong careers, earned respect, delivered results. Yet the spark that once fuelled them has faded, replaced by restlessness or fatigue.

They don’t need another productivity trick.

They need space to breathe, clarity about what matters, and a way to make progress that lasts.

That’s what my work is about.

The MOVES Framework: Mindset, Ownership, Values, Energy, and Sustain, is a practical, human roadmap for reconnecting with who you are, what matters most, and how you want to show up.

“AI will replace entrepreneurs.”

That fear still comes up in many rooms.


Today at the IWD Forum: AI and the Future of Entrepreneurship, we had a very honest conversation about it.


Just wrapped up the panel and I must say — what a meaningful discussion it turned out to be.


It was a privilege sharing the stage with Ms Maz Mat Hassan and Ms Ts Wan Yuee Low, each bringing powerful perspectives from technology, connectivity, and real entrepreneurial journeys.


Some of the questions we explored were the ones many founders are quietly thinking about:

• Will businesses lose relevance because of AI?
• Can entrepreneurs realistically grow without integrating AI?
• How do we leverage AI without destroying human livelihoods?
• Beyond service and product businesses, what new models could AI unlock for entrepreneurs?


From my perspective as a business owner working closely with Human + AI operational models, the reality looks very different from the fear.


AI does not remove opportunity.


It reshapes it.


The entrepreneurs who will thrive are the ones who understand how to combine human intelligence, creativity, and AI capability to design better systems, better services, and better value.


The future of entrepreneurship is not human versus AI.


It is Human + AI.


But beyond the stage and discussions, today also reminded me how important people and support systems are.


Having KAAVITHA A there as my plus one — from helping me choose my outfit to standing by my side through the day — meant so much.

My LinkedIn-to-real-life bond Sarmila Maran, who stayed throughout the day supporting and cheering — that kind of friendship is rare.

Moments like this remind me that no matter how far we go professionally, we all need people who show up, support us, and celebrate the journey with us.

Trust me.
No toxic workplace is worth even a penny of your peace of mind.


Tender the resignation.
Move on.


Because tolerating it will cost you more than you realise.


It costs your mental health — constant stress, anxiety, overthinking even after work hours.

Nobody talks about this part.


The quiet pressure.
The overthinking.

but still show up like you’ve got it all together.


Some days don’t look like progress.

No good news.
No “things are finally working out” moment.

Running a business, replying to clients like everything is stable
when inside you’re figuring out your next move.

Different situations.

But the next day still comes.
And you still show up.

But if you really think about it…

Trying again after rejection is a win.
Showing up when you don’t feel ready is a win.


Growth isn’t always loud.


Sometimes it’s just you choosing not to give up on yourself
even when things feel uncertain.


And that kind of progress?

It’s real!

But let’s be real —
a feature means nothing if the conversation itself is weak.


What mattered was what was said in that room.


We spoke about women in business —
not as something “special” or needing validation.


We’re already here.
Already building.
Already leading.


The real conversation?

AI.


Not the fear.
Not the noise.


But the shift.


Because what I’m seeing across rooms, clients, and conversations is this:


People are not losing opportunities.
They’re losing relevance — if they don’t adapt.


AI is not taking away work.


It’s exposing who is willing to learn…
and who is choosing to stay comfortable.


And that’s the uncomfortable truth many don’t want to hear.

You don’t need more AI tools.
You need to stop doing everything yourself.


But because they don’t know what to let go of
and what they should still own.


Midweek check:

AI is not here to do your thinking.

It’s here to remove the things that are wasting your time.


If you’re working right now — business, job, or even job hunting — this is how it should look:


Let AI handle:
• first drafts (emails, reports, proposals)
• research and summarising information
• structuring ideas when you’re stuck
• repetitive admin work
• organising messy thoughts into something usable


You focus on:
• decision-making
• communication that actually connects with people
• understanding context, nuance, and people dynamics
• building relationships
• refining and making the work make sense


Because;

AI can generate.


But it doesn’t understand responsibility.
It doesn’t carry consequences.
It doesn’t represent you.


And that’s where most people get it wrong.


They either try to do everything themselves
and burn out…


Or they over-rely on AI
and lose their thinking.


The balance is simple — but not easy:

AI should support your work.
Not replace your judgment.


If your workflow still feels heavy, messy, or overwhelming,

it’s not because AI isn’t powerful.


It’s because you haven’t designed
how you work with it yet.

That’s the uncomfortable truth.


We keep treating burnout like an individual problem —
time management, resilience, wellness programs.


But the data says otherwise:
📌 Manager behavior is the biggest driver of burnout (McKinsey)
📌 Toxic culture outweighs workload as a predictor (MIT Sloan)
📌 Burnout is classified as unmanaged workplace stress (WHO)


So the real question is not:
“Can employees handle the work?”


It’s:
Was the work ever designed to be handled in the first place?
