I’m usually brought in after the raise, when the story hasn’t caught up with the reality. During expansion into new markets or product launches, when clarity starts to lag behind growth.

I’ve done this across writing, video, and culture projects with BMG, Billboard, Nerds Collective, Beatport, Adidas, PSG, MoonPay, Crossmint, Matchain, Ultra Music Festival, and Mixmag, working where ideas move from niche to visible.

On here and in my newsletter Signal + Flow (Music Money Moves), I write about how money, culture and power move across music, platforms and new financial rails.

A music publishing breakdown I wrote reached 150,000+ people, with 2,000+ reactions, 130+ comments, and 290 reposts. The part that mattered wasn’t the reach. It was people inside major labels saying it helped them explain their own business more clearly.

The MLC held $424 million in 2021. Earned. Unclaimed. Waiting. Most artists didn't know the account existed.
 
Apple paid it. Spotify paid it. Amazon paid it.
Nobody could find who it belonged to.
 
Here's why.
Every stream fires two payments.

One for the recording. 
One for the composition.
 
Most independent artists set up the first. 

The second has a different system entirely. 
A different registration. A different database.
 
If you're not in that database, the payment doesn't disappear. It waits.
 
Then after three years, it moves. To publishers and rights holders who registered properly.
 
The system doesn't chase you. 
It pays whoever showed up.
 
Same song. Same streams. 
One artist collects twice. 
One collects once.
 
Same output. 
Different admin. 
Different income.
 
Most artists put their name on the song. Forgot to put it in the database. But to a payment system, you don't exist until you register.
