You can spend years being productive without building toward anything.

You're heads down, executing well, getting positive feedback. Everything feels fine. But you never come up for air to ask: "Where is this actually taking me?"

It's why I'm such a big fan of career audits. Stop and ask yourself:

👉 If I keep doing what I'm doing, where will I be in 2-3 years?

👉 Is that where I want to be?

👉 What am I optimizing for? And is it still the right thing for this stage of my life?

Come up for air. Make sure you're heading somewhere you actually want to go.

I see a lot of content teams getting stuck as order-takers.

Sales needs a one-pager. SEO needs 10 blog posts. Product needs some emails written.

And the content team just... executes.

Big miss 🤦🏽‍♀️

When I think about high-performing content teams, they're involved in the conversations about:

- Which markets we should go after

- How we should position ourselves

- What problems we're actually solving

The difference is night and day. One approach gives you a production line. The other gives you a strategic function that makes your entire go-to-market sharper.

If your content team is just filling requests, you're probably missing out on half of what they could offer.
