How do you take an idea and turn it into a real product in weeks, not months?

Especially inside a 100,000-employee giant?

At the recent buildersklub meetup, I had the pleasure to chat with João Fernandes from Lufthansa Innovation Hub and learn how they approach it.

He walked us through building Cabinblu (an app for flight anxiety) in just 10 weeks.

Here is the playbook on how they did it:

1️⃣  𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 
Opportunity Discovery → Solution Validation → MVP Development → Scale. 
Cabinblu's idea came from Lufthansa's Medical & Health Department addressing flight anxiety (20-40% of flyers). Every idea must answer: "Why should WE build this?" and align with Lufthansa Group's strategy. Aligned incentives = successful products.

2️⃣  𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 
Each venture runs with 2-3 core people as "entrepreneurs in residence," backed by specialists in marketing, design, and strategy. João partnered with a pilot who has a PhD in flight anxiety to ensure science-backed credibility. Small teams, big impact.

3️⃣ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 
Before building anything, João used V0 by Vercel to create a clickable prototype in one morning to test with pilots. Not production-ready, but tangible enough for real feedback and stakeholder buy-in before investing months in development. Show, don't tell.

4️⃣ 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 
With engineers focused on high-ROI projects, João used FlutterFlow to build the full app without writing code. ChatGPT and YouTube filled the gaps. Result? App Store launch in 10-12 weeks. Low-code validates fast, then scale with proper engineering if it works.

5️⃣ 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 
2 features got cut from Cabinblu's MVP: calling a pilot (operational complexity) and live flight tracking (complex APIs). João's rule: "We need to understand what is worth building-not just what's exciting to build." Scope discipline beats feature bloat. Ship what validates your hypothesis, nothing more.

6️⃣ 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐲 In corporate environments, momentum dies fast. Leadership changes, opinions shift, budgets move. "Go from idea to MVP as fast as possible. If we take too long, we lose traction and alignment." Speed isn't just efficiency-it's survival strategy. Validate with real paying customers in weeks, not months.s a masterclass in moving from "slide deck" to "shipped product."

Will AI really be able to build complex software on its own?
 
There’s a lot of skepticism out there:
“It’s just vibe-coding. It's a fad.”
“It lacks real craft and strategy.”
“It’ll always need human oversight.”
 
And for now, that’s true.
But that misses the bigger picture.
 
This isn’t a question of if. It’s a question of when.
 
Let’s look at a simple logic:
 
👉 The industry is in a sprint to achieve AGI
 
👉 Expert timelines vary, but more and more serious researchers are talking about 5 to 15 years.
 
👉 What does AGI mean? It means machines that can think, learn, and reason just like humans... or, more likely, better.
 
So, if we successfully build a machine that can out-think a human engineer...
 
Why would we say it won't be able to write complex software?
 
I get it. It’s hard to picture.
 
It was probably just as difficult for someone in the 1800s to believe we could get inside a 200-ton metal device and fly across an ocean.
 
And yet, now we fly every day.
 
I think the real debate isn’t whether AI will eventually build full systems, run autonomous codebases or do any other complex task.
 
I think the real question is:
 
What happens when it can?

When I was 18 I started my first company (and failed miserably)

I was selling energy contracts door to door through a collective. 

The whole idea was simple: gather enough households, negotiate bulk pricing, make a margin.

In reality it was awful.

I started noticing the product didn’t actually offer the value I wanted it to. So when people asked if it was the best deal, I couldn’t connect with it on a level that made me want to sell it.

It felt wrong and I hated every minute of it.

But that failure gave me the single lesson that shaped my entire career.

I can’t sell something I don’t stand behind.

It’s why I left the job and the country and why Anlytic kept getting polished  until the product was something I’d actually buy myself.

I don’t believe in pushing for the sake of hype. I just wanted to build something that earns its place in a company because it solves a real problem.

That failed company at 18 didn’t make money but it built the internal rule I still follow today.

If I can’t be proud of it I won’t build it.

Today the UAE celebrates National Day 🇦🇪

I left the Netherlands and moved to Dubai because I wanted to build in a place that actually matches the pace of my ideas.

Dubai has been unlike anywhere I’ve ever lived.
The ambition here is real. The energy is real. The sense that anything can be built if you put the work in… also real.

As a founder, this has been the most exciting environment I’ve ever worked in.
The speed, the openness to new technology, the support for people who want to create something meaningful, it’s hard to find that anywhere else.

I’m grateful to call the UAE home and to be building the next chapter of Anlytic here.

The opportunity to grow here has been incredible and I’m only getting started.

As a mathematician and programmer, I ignored AI for years.

The logic didn’t add up.
Why would you add randomness to a world that runs on absolute calculations.
One plus one is two.
A to B is deterministic.
So why would anyone want a model that injects probability into something that should be exact.

It felt wrong to me.
Then the agent era arrived.

Suddenly the randomness made sense because the goal changed.
AI did not need to be a calculator.
It needed to be a decision maker.
It needed to adapt.
It needed to reason.
It needed to behave in ways that absolute logic never could.

For the first time I saw models act with purpose, not just prediction.
That is when it clicked for me.

Real agentic behavior only became usable last year.

I went from ignoring AI to building with it every day.
Sometimes the breakthrough is your understanding of what the technology is actually meant to do.

Are we in an AI bubble?

On one side we have investors warning that valuations are running far ahead of actual product value. 

Startups with no users and no proprietary tech suddenly raising tens of millions just for having AI in the deck. 

Michael Burry even took a billion-dollar short position, not because he dismisses AI but because he believes the speculative pricing around it is overheated.  

We also see companies approving big AI budgets out of fear of being left behind, not because they’ve identified clear use cases. 

But then we look at the other side of the equation and the picture is very different. NVIDIA continues to post record revenue from real demand. 

Enterprises across industries are rolling out AI in operations, forecasting, quality control, logistics and customer service. 

Bill Gates has said repeatedly that AI represents the biggest shift since the internet and his point isn’t that valuations are perfect but that the underlying transformation is unavoidable. 

Maybe the bubble isn't AI but the gap between what some companies promise and what they actually deliver.

Are we in a bubble that's going to burst or just in the loudest phase of a long-term shift forward?
