What kind of team players are your work associates?

What type of people are they; disruptive, slackers, or do they make a difference?

Do they help you and encourage you?

It’s important that you associate with the right people, because everybody can see it.

If you are seen to be disruptive at work and you associate with disruptive people, then that will be noticed by EVERYONE. 

If you are seen to slack off and try to get away with as little work as possible and you associate with the slackers, then that will also be seen by EVERYONE. 

If you are seen to make a real difference at work and you associate with others that make a difference, then that will be seen by EVERYONE. 

You cannot get away with anything at work, EVERYTHING will be noticed.

What type of leader do you want to be? 

What level of leader?

It doesn’t matter if you are a team member working on a factory floor, or you are on the board of directors and you have your own office. 

If you choose to follow a person, you are a follower. 

The same applies, regardless of your position or authority, if a person chooses to follow you then you are a leader. 

You can be both a follower and a leader at the same time. 

What is important though is, you can be a positive or negative follower, or you can be a positive or negative leader. 

What type of follower and leader are you?

I love to be a leader and a follower, no matter where I am in any organisation or what position I hold. 

You can be part of the two-way street of leadership and followership. 

Following other members of your team will give them the chance to practice their leadership too.

When it comes to leadership, there is nothing more important than influence.

Job titles and leadership positions do not matter. 

The more people who realise that, the more people we will have with an increased influence.

A lot of people, and actually a lot of managers think that to be a leader, you must have authority. 

That couldn’t be further from the truth. 

To be a highly effective leader, you MUST have influence over your people, whether they are your team, or you are leading them in a project. 

Authority is not required to be a true highly effective leader.

The message I try to put across to all the people I engage with is, leadership is not a job title. 

Leadership is influence, and I want to help others to try and increase their influence.
