He was formerly the Head of Marketing at Kraken, one of the world’s biggest crypto exchanges. He is a serial crypto entrepreneur with two exits (Interchange > Kraken, ZeroBlock > Blockchain.com). In between his time in crypto, he was on the Growth Product and Marketing teams at Uber. He was part of the original 2013 crypto meetup group in SF which was comprised of the founders of Coinbase, Ripple, Kraken, and others.

Built up a team of developers and testers maintaining a large legacy web application and services while moving large sections of the web application to new microservices built on .NET Core and Docker/EKS. My team delivered a great MVP on time, built from scratch, while under pressure, and on a tight deadline.

I was responsible for the performance of my team, architecture, code reviews, and quarterly/yearly personnel reviews. I also ran and improved our agile processes, while writing code with the team, and migrated engineering to git and other modern development practices.

Supporting Microsoft’s Azure.com website working on all aspects of their site from front-end to backend development, testing, architecture, performance, building the migration plan to move to .NET Core. This included technologies such as C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, NodeJS, Microsoft Azure (Redis, Table/Blob/Queue Storage, Web Jobs, Cognitive Services), MS Build, PowerShell.

I also aided our junior developers in getting them up to speed on C#, ASP.NET, MVC, Web API, and Razor. I helped lead the team in trying new development methodologies like pair programming.

Attack Pattern

Supporting CenturyLink's Cloud division working on their Bare Metal project to build infrastructure for managing their internal servers and external bare metal customer servers. This included technologies such as ASP.NET Core and Web API, C#, NodeJS, Postgres, Powershell, Ansible, Windows, and Linux.

CenturyLink found that running services on .NET/Windows was difficult to manage and caused major challenges, including excessive memory usage. I led the development effort converting the services over to .NET Core on Linux resulting in fewer, smaller machines being used to support the servers and less downtime.

Hidden Pineapple, LLC

Nathan Heskew and I began Hidden Pineapple while still at Microsoft to publish our Twitter app for Windows Phone and Windows. We saw a need because there were no quality Twitter apps for Windows Phone at the time. After the initial success (over 100K users), I expanded working on Windows and Windows Phone, Windows Azure and other platforms for other companies while continuing work on my own new products and services. I built everything from the front end mobile and desktop applications to the back-end APIs that supported them using ASP.NET Web API. I also partnered with a designer and another developer to build Maestro, the first 3rd party, fully featured, mail application for Windows Phone.

Under contract for Microsoft, I aided several teams, including Windows, Windows Phone, and Internet Explorer by building solutions for their audiences, making it easier for them to find what they needed and be excited about Microsoft’s platform.

As employee #2 at the startup Switch, I wore many hats, mainly designing and building our in-browser UI/UX and NodeJS middleware and API. Primary technologies were HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3 for the frontend and NodeJS and various libraries on the back-end.

As a PM on the ASP.NET team, I took ASP.NET Web Pages & Razor from prototype through official v1 and v2 releases. I also owned, ran, and shipped ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET templates in Visual Studio 2012 and other various projects. I worked with developers, testers, many external teams, and upper management across Microsoft in this role.

While on the Channel 9 team in the Developer and Platform Evangelism team as an SDE at Microsoft,  I helped build out the infrastructure needed to run a highly scalable video site as well as many other sister sites. I used technologies such as ASP.NET (Web Forms and later MVC), SQL Server, and other related web technologies.
