Micro-habit for better focus:

Stop tab-switching while the AI "thinks."

When we use tools like Gemini or Claude, there is often a 5-10 second delay while the model processes or performs deep research.

Most of us instinctively use that micro-break to check notifications or scroll social media.

This creates "attention residue."

By the time the answer generates, your brain has already shifted context.

The Fix:

  1. Fight the urge to fill the silence.

  2. Sit with the problem for those few seconds.

  3. Read the chain of thought to understand how the AI is thinking.

  4. Watch the answer generate.

Retrain your brain to tolerate 10 seconds of stillness.

One of leadership's hardest disciplines is knowing when you have "enough" information.

We often fall into the trap of thinking that one more data point will guarantee a perfect outcome. It rarely does.

Because we can query endless perspectives, we often do ... hoping the AI will uncover a "perfect" path that carries zero risk.

But the best leaders use these tools differently. 

They don't use AI to endlessly weigh options; they use it to shorten the distance between a question and a decision.

In practice, this means: 

  • Stress-testing your hypothesis in 5 minutes instead of scheduling another meeting. 

  • Drafting the strategy doc you've been overthinking, then refining from there. 

  • Identifying the 2-3 factors that actually matter, not the 20 that feel comprehensive.

Don't let the abundance of insight prevent the courage to act.
