I saw the dumbest post today.

It was someone talking about how “you have to leave the people closest to you behind in order to achieve your dreams.” And that “your family and friends are often the ones that believe in you the least.”

I call bull.

But, we hear it all the time, right? 
The lone wolf. The self-made millionaire. The hustler "doing it all on their own."

But look closer, and the story falls apart.

Every big success I've seen in real estate, business, or investing had the same thing in common: 
No one did it alone.

My family are my foundation, my “why” and my greatest joy.

I don’t want any success that costs leaving them behind.

What a sad and pathetic viewpoint.

Choose people that support you, see the good in you, cheer for you in your successes, and help put you back on your feet when things get tough.

They matter the most. They are what has made all of my success possible, and worthwhile.

If you haven’t, you are missing priceless lessons.

Lessons learned around a dining room table with the mouse and cheese pieces across the board.

It’s the rat race. 
You are stuck in a circle. 
Going round and round.
Living pay check to pay check.

The goal? 
Well it’s our life goal (or at least, I hope it’s yours).

So, what is your “cheese?”

At the beginning of the game you pick your own cheese.
The thing you are working towards.
Your dream.
You pick what winning the game means for you.

Traveling across the world.
Owning a jet.
Season tickets every year to your favorite sports team.
A brand new mansion.
Freedom.
The list goes on.

So what’s your cheese?

Until you know what your cheese is, your chasing your own tail.
Stuck in a loop.
Maybe making more and getting promotions,
but as long as you’re stuck there, you’re stuck.

Find your cheese.
Define winning for yourself, and for your family.
Build a plan to get out of the rat race.
Work for that.

What’s your cheese?

When you're a kid, "home" is just your bedroom, your backyard, the street you ride your bike on.

It's comfort, a place where your only worry is getting called in for dinner.

Somewhere along the way, that changes.

"Home" starts to mean late nights working on your own thing, paying your first rent, sometimes sharing a cramped space with roommates you barely know.

You realize home isn't just walls and a roof. It's a feeling, a stage, and it keeps changing as you take on new roles in life.

Suddenly, it's about the people under that roof. The noisy mornings, the quiet late nights, the mess and the peace.

You start to notice things you never paid attention to before. Light in the living room. Space for a home office. A kitchen where everyone seems to hang out.

The meaning of "home" keeps shifting, and that's normal.

We chase bigger spaces, nicer views, better neighborhoods. Sometimes, we come back to the basics: four walls that just feel right, even if nothing else is perfect.

It's not about square footage, it's about what fits your life right now.

Funny how a place can go from just an address to the only spot in the world you want to be.

Anyone else notice how "home" means something completely different to you now than it did ten years ago?

Most people talk about diversifying their portfolio.

But that's not the whole picture.

Diversification isn't just about spreading your money across stocks, real estate, or different asset classes.

The most financially secure people I know take it further.

They diversify their income streams, their network, their skillsets, and even their knowledge.

Think about it.

If every dollar you earn comes from one job, that's risky. 
If every person you rely on is from the same circle, that's risky too. 
If all your knowledge is from one source, you're missing angles.

Financial stability comes from building layers.

Maybe that means learning sales, even if you're in finance. 
Maybe it means connecting with people outside your industry, not just the usual suspects.

Those extra layers are what protect you when markets shift, business slows, or the unexpected hits.

Most people focus on the assets they buy.

The smart ones focus on the assets they build in themselves and their network.

If you're serious about stability, don't stop at your portfolio.

Where are you missing a backup plan?

You can’t hide a weak culture or a shaky brand. It shows up everywhere.

I’ve seen companies spend a fortune on branding—new logos, shiny mission statements, expensive ad campaigns—trying to look “world-class” from the outside.

But if the culture isn’t real, everyone finds out.

You see it in the way teams talk to each other. 
In how leaders handle tough questions. 
In the churn rate nobody likes to mention.

It leaks out to customers too. 
Deals fall apart. Promises get broken. Reviews start to slip.

Even outsiders can pick it up with a scroll through LinkedIn or a quick Google.

The truth: 
The strongest brands I know aren’t built by marketing teams or ad agencies. They’re built by people who actually like where they work—who feel respected, challenged, and trusted.

When the culture is real, the brand takes care of itself. 
When it’s fake, no amount of polish can cover it up.

Every company leaves a trail. The real question is—what does yours say?

Ever noticed how everyone talks about how "fast" hard money loans are? 
They make it sound like you snap your fingers and the cash appears.

That part is true—speed is the big draw. 
But here’s what hardly anyone tells you: 
The clock starts ticking the second you get that money.

Hard money is a lifesaver if you need funds right away. 
But I’ve watched plenty of people get caught off guard by just how short those repayment windows really are.

It’s not like a 30-year mortgage or a long-term business loan. 
You’ve got months—sometimes just a few—to get the project done, flip, refinance, or pay back in full.

That speed gives you flexibility. 
But it also adds pressure you can literally feel every day the loan is outstanding.

The real trouble starts when you aren’t ready for that pace. 
Miss your window, and fees pile up. 
Projects get delayed, exit strategies fall apart, and suddenly, what looked like a golden opportunity turns into a scramble.

Hard money isn’t just about getting cash fast. 
It’s about having a plan that moves even faster.

Anyone can get a loan. 
The real pros know how to get in and out before the timer runs out.

Don’t just ask, “Can I get the money?” 
Ask, “Can I win the race against the clock?”

My brother is a talented climber.

Watching him on the wall is wild—he'll let go of grips that would terrify me. 
He trusts his strength, his technique, and just moves. One hand suddenly off the hold, swinging up for the next.

Honestly, it looks reckless. But that's exactly how he tackles routes others can't.

He isn't clinging to the first comfortable spot he finds. 
He doesn't freeze up when a move looks risky. 
He keeps reaching, even if it looks impossible from the ground.

I see the same thing in business and investing.

So many people hold on tight to what feels safe. They want security, a sure thing, the grip they already know.

The irony? That's how you end up stuck halfway up the wall.

The biggest jumps in progress come from letting go just long enough to grab something better. 
Trusting your experience. 
Trusting the prep.

It never feels easy in the moment. 
But the people who reach the top aren't the ones with the strongest grip—they're the ones willing to move.

Whether it's real estate, a new venture, or just a better way to work, growth means letting go of what's comfortable and keeping your eyes on the next hold.

That's how you climb higher.

What grip are you holding onto?

Most people overestimate what they can accomplish in one year, but underestimate what they can accomplish in 10 years.

Ten years ago, I had no idea how any of this would look.

Back then, everything felt so big. 
Picking a career path, figuring out what to specialize in, choosing who to marry. 
Every decision felt like it would set the course for life.

And honestly, some years were tough. 
There were lost deals, financial setbacks, learning curves I thought I'd never get over, and some heartbreak in the family. 
Some days, it felt like I was moving backward, not forward.

Now, ten years out, things look different.

I'm building our dream home. 
Our network of friends and mentors is strong. 
I've got a daughter who makes me laugh every day, and a son on the way. 
Somehow, I’m living out the things I used to pray about.

It didn’t happen all at once. 
It didn’t even feel possible in the hard moments.

But step by step, with clear goals and a lot of persistence, things stacked up.

I’m grateful for every piece of progress along the way, even when it didn’t look like much in the moment.

If you’re in a season where the big things feel impossible, just keep going. 
Keep doing the work, keep showing up, and keep your eyes on what matters to you.

Looking back, you’ll be surprised how far you’ve come.

It’s almost December, and the new year has been on my mind.

Every year, I watch people set big goals in January. 
By March, most have faded away—mine included, if I'm being honest.

But a few years ago, I found a pattern that actually works for me.

Forget the long list of resolutions. I pick ONE main goal for the year, and break it down into habits I can do daily or weekly. That’s it.

For example:
Instead of a broad goal like “grow my business,” I’ll narrow it to “have one new sales conversation every weekday.” 
Instead of “get in shape,” I’ll set a target like “work out for 20 minutes, four days a week.”

Here’s what changed for me:
- No more overwhelm
- Progress I can actually measure
- Real momentum by spring, instead of giving up

It sounds simple, but it works because it’s doable. I don’t rely on motivation. I build routines so small, they’re almost automatic.

And when I slip up? I just pick up where I left off. No guilt, no quitting.

The goals I actually achieve are the ones with a clear action, a set schedule, and zero guesswork.

If you’re thinking about next year, try setting just one goal—and make it something you can track week by week. It’s less flashy, but it sticks.
