B2B marketing is going through a brutal shift. Here's what 2026 is looking like after talking to 17 marketing leaders this year

1. "AI-first" strategy is big a** red flag
 Companies optimizing for efficiency over effectiveness will wonder why their content gets zero engagement. Turns out, when everyone uses the same AI tools, everyone sounds the same. Boring doesn't compound.

2. Paid ads are costing more and converting less and less 
This is what happens when there are no more "in-market" people left to target. So companies keep increasing ad spend, hammering the wrong message to the wrong 95%. The winners? They're investing in owned audiences.

3. LinkedIn thought leadership ads are exploding
Organic reach is cheap on LinkedIn. Thought leadership ads let you boost what's already working to the exact accounts you want. It's possibly the best underrated distribution play available.

4. Taste is the new differentiator 
When anyone can create content, who can create *different* content wins. That means hiring someone who understands strategy AND knows what makes people stop scrolling. You can't hire a VA to "do social" and expect massive growth.

5. The 95-5 split is undeniable 
CMOs are realizing that most of their budget targets the 5% actively buying. Meanwhile the 95% who aren't in-market yet are mostly ignored. They're flipping their spend and focus to earn mindshare now, knowing it'll turn into pipeline later. 

Here's the pattern: you can't buy attention anymore. You have to earn it.

The teams betting on relationships, owned audiences, and human creativity will lap everyone else.

LinkedIn has changed a TON. Everyone's reach is down. Here's what good looks like based on an analysis of 50,000 posts in January.

Context:
I help execs launch their LinkedIn strategy and posts. 

So I study proven formats and aim for outliers every day. 

Execs usually have 5k-10k connections. So when we break 5,000 impressions, that's a win. 

When we break 10,000? That's MASSIVE.

Worth knowing how you stack up before you quit.

Here's what jumps out to me:

If you have 5k-10k followers and you're consistently hitting 1,000-2,000 impressions? You're in the top 25%. That's strong.

Breaking 5,000? You're in the top 10%. That's elite.

The hardest part about LinkedIn is that no one tells you if you're winning. 

The algorithm has gotten tighter, but the bar is lower than you think.

Don't quit because you're comparing yourself to influencers with 100k+ followers.

Compare yourself to your tier. Then try to move up one level.

Back in March 2020, I co-founded Speak On Podcasts with a partner from the UK. We grew it into one of the world’s leading agencies for booking podcast interviews, securing over 2,500 appearances for more than 125 leaders from top B2B brands like Canva, Gong, Paddle, and Toggl.

In December 2022, Chapman Capital acquired the agency (source). I stayed on for over a year to ensure a smooth transition and maintain high service quality for our clients. In April 2025, the business was acquired again — this time by UK company Fame (source), which integrated the agency and team into its portfolio under the name “Fame Connect.”

In 2024, I co-founded Demandi.co with a partner from the US. As COO, I helped over 300 B2B professionals create nearly 2,000 short LinkedIn videos. I built the MVP, ran operations, and drove revenue and pipeline growth. I stepped away voluntarily due to a difference in vision with my co-founder.

LinkedIn has been a key acquisition channel in both businesses. I’ve tested it all — posting daily for 188 days straight, reaching out to 50+ people a day, and most recently, running paid ads. All of it generated deals worth over $1M.

Today, I work independently, helping B2B brands and individuals become more visible and get more clients using LinkedIn.

Some posts will resonate more than others. That's normal.

I got my first real results when I stopped praying for organic reach and started paying for specific reach.

And from that point, calls started booking consistently.

BUT there are 2 things I notice with my most successful campaigns:

1. Specificity in targeting — not "founders" but "B2B founders with 11-50 employees stuck under 1,000 impressions"

2. Content that makes them feel seen — "Are you stuck under 500 views?" hits differently than "grow your LinkedIn presence"

The big takeaway:

Anyone can escape the organic lottery.

You don't need a massive budget or a huge following.

This may lose me some business, but it has to be said:

Most LinkedIn advice is designed to sound good, not to work.

In other words, gurus sell what gets engagement on their posts, not what actually builds pipeline for B2B services.

Try this instead:

→ Stop optimizing for likes — optimize for calls booked
→ Stop chasing viral — chase niche-famous with your exact ICP
→ Stop posting and praying — pay $10-$30/day to control who sees your content
→ Stop using hashtags — they've been useless for years

Here's what actually matters for reach:

Initial engagement from your network. That's the only signal. Not your consistency. Not your effort. Not how many days in a row you showed up.

What LinkedIn gurus say:

"Just post consistently and you'll grow your audience."

What's true:

1. Your dedication means nothing to the feed
2. Individual post performance is mostly noise
3. Your posts will never consistently get more engagement in a straight line
4. Distribution matters more than content quality

I'd rather have 500 impressions from my exact ICP than 50,000 from random people.

Stop chasing vanity metrics.

Focus on pipeline instead.
