When I dig in, I often find the same positioning mistakes, and they’re more expensive than you think.

Here are 5 common ones:

1. Homepages that say “for teams” or “for businesses” but never name a real ICP. If your ideal customer can’t see themselves in the first three seconds, you’ve already lost them.

2. Promises that sound like every other tool in the category. If I can swap your logo with a competitor’s and nothing changes, you’re invisible.

3. Problems that are so vague (“inefficient processes,” “manual work”) that nobody feels urgency. If your buyer can’t point to the pain in their day, they won’t prioritize solving it.

4. “Better, faster, easier” claims with no proof or contrast. If you don’t show how you’re different from the status quo, buyers default to what they already know.

5. No mention of what happens if they do nothing. If there’s no cost to waiting, there’s no reason to act now.

I used Obsidian + Claude Code to analyze the last 8 years of my to-do lists 

These are very unstructured notes so there's some inaccuracy here and I'm pretty sure I forgot to check off a ton of tasks I finished

Yet there's some pretty interesting insights

Tasks with length of 1-5 words had a 24% completion rate, while tasks with 16+ words had a 10% completion rate

Time based tasks (e.g spend 1 pomodoro on content strategy) had a 35% completion rate vs 21% tasks without one

Specific framing ("send","call","pay") had a 22% completion rate vs vague framing ("Figure out","look into","explore","maybe")

Tasks where someone is waiting on them were also completed at a higher rate (proposals, feedback and follow-ups) than tasks for my own future self (strategies, research, content planning)

My main takeaways - be specific when planning my to-do list, for more complex thinking style tasks it's best to time-gate them (e.g dedicate 2 pomodoros), and use specific wording with a clear end-result
