And I’m like…Haha, I am.

But honestly, if you actually think about it, it is a bit of a luxury.

Having to decide which beach to go to (too many good ones btw), only to end up at the same one again. Because no matter which one you pick, the feeling’s always the same. Calm and free.

Honestly, it is in fact a privilege to live this close to the water energies.

Every single time I’m there, I think - yeah, maybe everyone’s right. This is the dream.


Anyway, now you know what a total beach baby I am.

All that time and location freedom my remote work gives me...Yeah, I mostly use it to hang out by the sea. Because why not?

You know what really feels illegal as a writer?


The post-GPT era. 
No, but really, think about it.

- Nowadays, everyone is a writer.
- You don’t even need to have the skill.
- Just chat-GPT it, and you’re sorted. Isn’t it right?

Everyone's got something to say that looks perfectly smooth and structured. 

- You don't even have to write from the heart anymore.
- You just gotta write smart and make sure it lands.

Hey, I get it. It's fast, efficient, and saves tons of time.

And if you’re thinking, Why am I rambling about it all of a sudden, hold that thought.

The other day, I was scrolling through Google Photos when I found an old piece I wrote back in 2019. 

And wowww, it was deep. 
Like painfully deep.

I would’ve attached a picture of it here, but it’s painfully cliche, too.

It wasn’t bad, though. But anyone reading it today would probably go, “Damn, what did she even go through to write like that?”

And don’t even get me started on the vocabulary I’d use. 
The girl was using words even Grammarly wouldn’t recognize. (Sigh)

Honestly, I miss that version of me a little, although I’ve outgrown her, but certain things you just can’t let go of, no matter how much time has passed or how much you’ve changed.

Back then, I’d write like my life depended on it. And now it actually does.

I’d write with so much passion, fragility, and chaos.

And now, 

- I just dumb things down.
- I make it LinkedIn-friendly.
- I give a f*ck about pretty formatting.

Because that’s what the platform demands, isn’t it?

Don't get me wrong, I love what I do.

But the post-GPT era changed writing.
It sure has made it easier, but it also feels a bit emptier.

And yeah, maybe I’ve learned to play the game, but a tiny part of me still hopes that someday I find that version of me again who wrote without overthinking reach, structure, or strategy.

Who wrote not to perform, but to just feel.

I might get straight-up hated for writing this, but hear me out.


You’d know those little, “I’ll like your posts if you like mine clubs.”

Yus! I’m talking about those engagement pods.

Man, when I first learned they existed, I was like, what even? 

People exchanging likes and comments to make each other look popular? And so many people even fall for that crap? Weird. Fine. Whatever, I thought.

Fast forward to early 2025. I learned something even darker that genuinely made my jaw drop.

Someone I met on LinkedIn told me that “the big creators I follow, the ones who brag about hitting 100k in a year and a half, are in every single engagement pod there is. They pay for likes. They pay for vanity metrics. That’s how they grew.”

And I just sat there and was like, “What did you just say?”

Before, I’d think those results were insane, a bit unrealistic too, but then I thought, maybe they just worked really hard.

Suddenly, everything made sense. It just clicked.
My instincts were right. 

All those growth stories that felt oh so perfect weren’t even real.

I’m not kidding, I had to sit with that fuckin fact for two days straight. It messed with my head.

Because I used to look at those people and think, 

- “Wow, maybe I’m just slow.”
- “Maybe I’m not strategic enough.”
- “Maybe I’m doing something wrong.”

And then it hit me. So many creators must be going through the same damn thing.

You see someone make it in less time and you think, “If they can, so can I.”

You start chasing that kinda growth.
You study what they did and how they did it, so that you could do the same and become an overnight success.

And rightly so. It’s just a basic human tendency,

Turns out, we were studying a system that was rigged and fucked from the start.

Because when you don’t hit the milestones they did, you start to doubt yourself. 

You begin to think something’s wrong with you, or that you’re not worth it.

You start making peace with fake explanations like, “maybe their journey is different, so is mine,” and then you sleep it off.

These creators are selling fake dreams, and people fall for it. Every. Single. Day.

They’re telling people they hit so and so number in so and so time just by “being consistent” and “providing value” when in reality they were buying attention in a group full of strangers.

And it’s not just them, there are so many macro and micro creators doing it as well.

And people glamorize their numbers and milestones like they’ve achieved something great. Like heck no.

And the worst part of it all is that they even drag their clients into it. 

They sneak their posts into pods, get them fake reach, and make them believe it’s real.

Impulsivity.

I've been impulsive my whole damn life.
And trust me, it shows.

The first time I heard about digital marketing, I didn't even stop to think.

I dropped $600 on a course that had everything.

- Facebook and IG ads.
- Graphic design.
- Sales funnels.
- SMM.

I didn't know my core skill back then.
I didn't know if I even needed it.
Heck, I didn't even research.

But I hit "BUY" anyway, hoping to figure it out as I move along.

My LinkedIn headline will tell you now that I don't offer any of those skills today.

Then, I did it again.

I emptied my first month's salary from my first job on a lead gen course.

It wasn't really a smart decision, but I don't regret it either.

Because even in my stupidiest impulses, I learned. (I got lucky.) :)

I learned freelancing basics: Contracts, pricing, etc. The stuff nobody teaches you initially.

But let's be real for a sec. 

Not every decision taken impulsively ends well. You don't always get a takeaway. Sometimes, it just hurts. Like real bad.

- Impulse will eat you alive if you let it.
- Impulse makes you waste money you don't have.
- Impulse makes you chase shiny objects instead of building skills.
- Impulse makes you think you're moving forward when you're really just burning cash and wasting energy.

You probably must be doing the same right now.

Jumping on courses that don't even align with your core skills. Or, maybe something else. 

Don't think one swipe of your card will fix everything. It won't.

What you do need to do is double down on that one thing you're actually good at and start owning. 

You can always pivot later, but first, find your footing.

The point isn't "all impulse is bad." The point is:

- Blind impulse is dangerous.
- Guided impulse is what shapes you.

So yeah, adversity will make you tougher.
Failure will make you smarter.

But blind impulse will break you before you even begin.
