Google have killed cold email. Here’s how:


They didn’t. 😂😂

I’ve already seen 2 posts claiming emails are dead. Let me balance the books.

TL;DR - Gemini will now assist with auto replies and email writing, as well as inbox management.


Taking the announcement one step at a time:


1) Inbox Overviews 

Basically what you already get when you Google search something. You ask it a question about an email, it summaries it and tells you.

2) Help Me Write, Suggested Replies, Proofread

Does what it says on the tin. For the benefit of crafting emails, not gatekeeping them.

3) AI Inbox

Here’s what’s causing all the panic. 

AI will help determine who in your inbox are the important ones by seeing who you contact frequently, or what relationships it can infer from the message.

So if you send generic, irrelevant crap, you’re probably getting ignored.

But you were already.

In summary, it’s not doom and gloom. In a way it’s a good thing, as 90% of people who are responsible for the awful emails flooding inboxes will fall off.

The 10% who know what they’re doing will continue to see success.
