I have been volunteering with Vidya Sagar and have raised substantial funds - proud to say I was there whenever they needed me and was able to raise whatever support they needed. Have developed a network of supporters and strive hard to keep them with us. Work hard at finding new donors, catalysts and facilitators constantly.Made valuable suggestions that have helped the organization grow. Have handled all work independently - I spend my own money to raise money. Have conducted workshops on fundraising.

Raised money / donations in kind for everything VS needed - including over 50% of building cost. Still raise funds to the extent that I can. Organized concerts, plays, brought out souvenirs, did everything required with diff groups of people to raise funds. Got many people interested in VS' work. Have also tried suggesting improvements at the national level for making it easier for NGOs working with disability to raise funds easily.

significant independent fundraiser.Neither my family members, nor I hold any official position in Vidya Sagar. I spend personal funds to raise funds for Vidya Sagar - simply because they do a very good job of giving excellent professional services with tender loving care to nearly 4,000 persons with disability - concentrated in Tamil Nadu, but spread across the country - and even seven neighbouring countries.

Finding new donors everyday, thinking of different ways of raising funds, keeping donors interested in our work through the years, reaching out to different sections of society, getting corporate support - all are still a part of my work. 
My personal goal is to build a robust corpus for Vidya Sagar so it can be self-sufficient for at least a part of funds required.

Chennai as Promotion Officer (South)

My job was to interact with the press and have music Cassettes and Cds reviewed, organize for cassette/CD release functions, interact with artists, make seasonal music available and do everything to promote sales and PR of the company in all 4 southern states. 

On my own initiative and because of my proficiency in many languages and knowledge of music, I have helped with correct information and correct titles of songs being printed on inlay cards. On my own volition, I started a music mail order business - this called for coordinating between various dealers and distributors across the country, making detailed catalogues, maintaining files for customers, etc, besides handling problems arising due to huge variations in taxes in different states resulting in vast differences in MRPs of the same product in different states. 
Was also involved with fighting piracy.

Gramophone Company of India (HMV)

completed 37 years of fundraising as a volunteer, for VIDYA SAGAR  (VS) (www.vidyasagar.co.in). Am now, a Member on the Governing Board of Vidya Sagar - started my 30th year of service with this elevation! Proud to say, I've had many very successful and good fundraising events for VS. Have participated 6 times in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 6Km run and have been the highest pledge-raiser each time. In 2015, got a special award for raising the highest amount in the history of the event. In 2016, participated in TCS World 10K Run and was again the highest pledge-raiser. Way back in 1995-96, raised over 50% of funds required for VS' building project, almost single-handedly. Have successfully handled fundraising emergencies too. Have earned several friends for VS and make sure they stay with VS.
Now chairing the fundraising committee for the most urgently needed, unique, Assisted and Inclusive Living Project of Vidya Sagar's, for adults with multiple disabilities - a very ambitious project estimated to cost about Rs25 crores. This will probably be my biggest project....
