Writing is more than just putting words on a screen.

Copywriters and novelists look deeper than just writing words. You have to look into rhythm, sounds, intonation, and strength.

For example, take the two words STONE and ROCK. They seem like simple synonyms, no?

But there's a distinct difference between these two words. ROCK starts with a softer 'R' but ends on a hard 'K'. In your mind it sounds more powerful than STONE which starts with a soft 'S' and ends on a soft 'N' sound.

This is why many strong-willed characters in novels, movies, and even brand names features powerful letters.

BROCK sounds like a character who's physically strong or maybe even a bit rude. SEAN sounds more empathic and gentle.

Try swapping out some of the words in your writing to create more rhythm and soften or harden the tone.

I definitely recommend studying a little poetry and starting with 'A Poetry Handbook' by Mary Oliver.
