Today at the #CIO100 annual gala, I was honored to receive the CIO of the Year award.

This institution, with more than four decades of history, recognizes technology leaders creating real impact across three essential pillars: 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 & 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.

For me, this award represents a new interpretation of the CIO role — one that goes far beyond managing technology. Today’s CIO shapes strategic direction, influences how organizations think and behave, and drives business outcomes through digital capabilities. It’s a role built on curiosity, courage, and the ability to turn complexity into clarity.

I want to thank the jury and the entire organization for this recognition. I also want to congratulate the other finalists, all of them outstanding professionals pushing our industry forward.

We are all obsessed with the "Smartest Model" race. Who has the highest IQ? Who hallucinates less? Who codes better?

The real moat is controlling the entire value chain. From the silicon chip in the server to the device in your pocket. Google has been quietly building what It can be called the "Full-Stack Advantage." While the market reacts to every new chatbot release, they are playing the long game of vertical integration.

To win this race, it will be needed more than just a Frontier Model. It will be required the full set:

We are moving away from a "Model War" to an "Ecosystem War." The winner won’t be the one with the smartest LLM; it will be the one who frictionlessly integrates that intelligence into the hardware, software, and daily habits of billions.

A couple of days ago, I was in New York with the team reviewing the progress of the systems and technology rollout at #JFK near future Terminal 1. 

Watching a terminal slowly come alive is both exciting and stressful — it’s like seeing a complex organism take its first breaths.

This time, the journey started at the 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 subway station, where our screens remind New Yorkers of Ferrovial ’s commitment to 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. A simple message, but one that frames everything we do: developing  and building the backbone that keeps cities and people moving.

In moments like these, you realize that real transformation doesn’t happen in a single milestone. It happens in layers — in every #cable pulled, every #system tested, every #decision made with purpose.

Infrastructure may be massive, but progress is always built one detail at a time.

We’ve all seen matrices like this one—𝐔𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐯𝐬. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭, neatly organized into nine boxes. They look solid. Rational. Familiar. And yet… today I find myself questioning them.

Why?. Because the world that shaped these frameworks no longer exists.
For years, prioritization was a simple equation: you had limited human capacity, so you had to choose carefully. But something fundamental has shifted. Our “capacity” is no longer limited to human hours or human cognition.

Today, 1H + 1H = 2, but 1H + 1A > 2 — where H is a Human and A is an AI agent capable of carrying real cognitive load.

This breaks the old logic. It forces us to rethink what “urgent” and “important” even mean when part of the work can be #offloaded, #accelerated, or entirely #reimagined.

It’s not that frameworks like this are useless—they’re just incomplete. They were built for a world where delegation meant a bigger #team, more #budget, or more #meetings. Now, delegation can mean something entirely different: handing tasks to an intelligent system that works in parallel, doesn’t wait until Monday, and doesn’t need a reminder.

So the real challenge isn’t fitting our tasks into nine boxes. It’s about redesigning the boxes themselves. The leaders who thrive in the next decade won’t just prioritize differently. They will think differently—treating AI not as a tool but as an additional mind in the room, reshaping how decisions, workloads, and strategic focus come together.

Maybe the question is no longer “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐝𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭?”
Perhaps it’s “𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐥?”

💡 A 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 shift in 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞.
💡 A 𝐛𝐢𝐠 shift in 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭.

The number of AI launches and announcements this week has been remarkable. Microsoft  unveiled its new Frontier approach. Google  pushed out Gemini Pro 3. OpenAI  released 5.1. And, in parallel, Meta  opened up SAM 3D, a model that can turn our 2D world into 3D.

Beyond the headlines, something deeper is happening.

We’re getting closer to interacting with AI systems that understand the physical world—not just data on a screen. That shift matters. It brings us nearer to a moment where robotics adoption accelerates, and where we can simulate and plan reality itself.

Imagine building digital twins not from static designs, but from live observation. A phygital layer—where the physical and digital merge—becomes the foundation for decision-making, forecasting, and design.

We’re not there yet. But the direction is clear, and the pace is accelerating.

The challenge is no longer to “stay updated.” It’s to rethink how we operate when the boundary between digital and physical becomes almost invisible.

🔴The opportunity is massive.
🔵The mindset shift is mandatory.

And the future feels a little closer this week.

A legacy defined not only by his buildings, but by the way he expanded the meaning of #form, #materials, and fluid #assembly. He didn’t just design structures—he reshaped the emotional and cultural weight of the spaces we share.

Gehry redefined deconstructivism, turning it into a force capable of transforming entire urban ecosystems. His projects often became catalysts of something larger than architecture. They triggered new energy, new identity, and a renewed sense of collective ambition.

We say goodbye to an artist who understood how to elevate function into purpose. Someone who could revive neglected spaces, reimagine their role, and build a rare sense of consensus around bold ideas.

At Ferrovial, we look back with respect and gratitude. Our collaboration with Gehry—first with the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and later with the Marqués de Riscal winery—challenged us in ways that shaped who we are.

To deliver such a disruptive vision, we had to rethink our approach and adopt tools that didn’t yet exist for building 3D infrastructure. CATIA was one of them. That step changed not only the project but our mindset.

When the vision is big enough, you don't downgrade the dream to fit the tools. You upgrade the tools to fit the dream. Gehry leaves us a perpetual footprint. He taught us that the "impossible" is often just an engineering problem waiting for a braver solution.

I recently saw a video from China that is the perfect metaphor for the state of modern business. The scene is striking: Farmers blocking a high-tech autonomous delivery vehicle on a rural road.

🟡 𝐖𝐡𝐲? 

Because, by tradition, they spread their seeds on the warm asphalt to dry in the sun. They were blocking the future to protect the harvest of today. It creates a powerful image of Change Management.

The farmers are fighting with perseverance. They are terrified the vehicle will crush their seeds. But in focusing on the tires, they miss the tsunami. The technology driving that vehicle won't just "step" on their seeds. Eventually, it will likely automate their entire labor.

🔴 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 "𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐱."

How often do we see this in our own corporate environments? We expend massive energy fighting the inevitable impact of change (the robot on the road). We try to protect legacy processes (the seeds) because "that’s how we’ve always done it."

Every transformation — technological or cultural — ultimately succeeds or fails in the transition phase. Not in the moment of disruption, but in how people adapt.

The robot is coming through. You cannot stop the vehicle.
The real leadership challenge isn't about blocking the road. It’s about figuring out how to own the fleet.

In the past, understanding the physical world meant observing it, measuring it, and trying to explain it. Today, we’re starting to decode it.

AI is giving us something new: the ability to read patterns in the physical world that we couldn’t previously see, not just at the human scale, but at the atomic and sub-atomic level.

Invisible rules are becoming visible. Behaviours we couldn’t describe are becoming predictable. And here’s the shift: 𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝… 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞-𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭.

The real race ahead isn’t about who uses AI faster. It’s about who learns to interpret the hidden logic of the world around us. Because once you can read the code behind reality, you can start to shape it.

Peter Drucker decía que ‘𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘢 𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘢 𝑝𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘳’, y Lou Gerstner lo demostró cuando transformó IBM no cambiando la estrategia, sino la cultura. Porque, como bien dice Xavier Marcet, crear un negocio es difícil, pero crear una cultura es mucho más.

Los grandes desastres empresariales no comienzan con una gran decisión mal tomada, sino con pequeñas grietas culturales: una falta de conexión, una incoherencia no resuelta, un liderazgo que deja de escuchar o un equipo que deja de confiar. Y hoy, en plena era híbrida, esas grietas se multiplican. Y cuando la cultura deja de sentirse, se fragmenta.

La cultura no es de arriba ni de abajo. Es lo que pasa cada día cuando nadie está mirando. Es la forma en la que se toman decisiones, cómo se celebran los éxitos, cómo se asumen los errores. Por eso, mantenerla viva no es tarea de ‘𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘥𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘴 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘴’, sino de todos.


Si queremos evitar que la cultura se agriete definamos valores reales y comportamientos visibles, demos tiempo al cambio. La cultura no se fuerza, se cultiva, hagamos visibles los pequeños avances. Y escuchemos, las grietas culturales suelen sonar antes de romper.

Las organizaciones que perduran no son las más ágiles ni las más tecnológicas: son las que mantienen la coherencia entre lo que dicen, lo que hacen y lo que valoran. Y el futuro del trabajo no será solo híbrido o digital. Será culturalmente coherente o no será.

𝗗𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮 𝗹𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹

Estamos en una era en la que la IA ya no es sólo una herramienta, sino que ya es un 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘰, capaz de influir, decidir, aprender y moldear realidades. Y precisamente por eso, el verdadero debate no es técnico, sino moral.

La IA actual es brillante calculando… pero vacía de principios. No tiene brújula ética, ni noción del bien común. Y ese es el riesgo. La inteligencia sin integridad es un barco sin quilla.

Por eso la próxima frontera no es crear máquinas más potentes, sino máquinas más responsables. Sistemas que no solo optimicen, sino que entiendan valores; que no sólo respondan, sino que razonen éticamente.


Y cuando hablamos de Integridad Artificial hablamos de la fusión entre inteligencia + principios. Entre cálculo + moral. Entre capacidad + conciencia del impacto.

No se trata de preguntarnos si la IA funciona. Sino si funciona de forma justa, ética y socialmente aceptable.

La pieza que falta no es técnica, es moral.


Y garantizar que la IA actúe con integridad no es un ejercicio de control, sino de responsabilidad, de liderazgo. Un liderazgo que se atreva a desafiar el statu quo, a repensar el poder, a priorizar valores sobre velocidad.

Y tengamos presente que la IA será tan buena como los valores que decida defender.


Y aquí surge la pregunta del millón: ¿Para qué queremos realmente la IA?

¿Para optimizar rutas logísticas sin mirar su impacto climático? ¿O para rediseñar cadenas más sostenibles?

¿Para maximizar beneficios financieros? ¿O para orientar la inversión hacia modelos responsables?

¿Para personalizar el aprendizaje? ¿O para corregir sesgos y garantizar igualdad real de oportunidades?

El futuro dependerá de cómo respondamos a estas preguntas.



El desafío no es construir IA más inteligente. Es construir IA más íntegra.

Y eso solo puede hacerse con un liderazgo valiente, distribuido y profundamente humano. Líderes capaces de entender que el mayor progreso tecnológico no es el que aumenta la potencia de cálculo…
sino el que eleva a las personas.

Porque al final, la inteligencia puede mejorar sistemas, pero la integridad es la que mejora sociedades.

En un mundo profesional que a veces premia el individualismo, este artículo de Carlos Ranera en Diario El Comercio recuerda algo esencial, y es que 𝘥𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘴𝑝𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘢 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘰 𝘯𝘰 𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥; 𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘻𝘨𝘰 𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢 𝘮𝘢́𝘴 𝑝𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢.

Porque, aunque solemos pensar en la generosidad desde el lado del que recibe, la realidad es otra. 𝘌𝘭 𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘥𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘦́𝘯 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦, se fortalece y se hace mejor líder.

Ayudar a otros a brillar, y hacerlo sin buscar protagonismo, es difícil… pero transformador. Y también es raro, porque supone dar un paso atrás para que otro avance. Exige renunciar al ego, a la vanidad y a esa necesidad tan humana de ser reconocido.

Pero cuando ocurre, sucede algo poderoso, ya que 𝘭𝘢 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘻𝘢, 𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘻𝘢 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝑝𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘺 𝘭𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝑝𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘪𝑝𝘰𝘴.

Un círculo virtuoso que, bien entendido, es una de las competencias más valiosas del liderazgo actual, porque 𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘰 𝘯𝘰 𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰; 𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦.

Es saber señalar los aciertos, pero también acompañar en los errores. Es ofrecer oportunidades, escuchar con paciencia, compartir conocimiento sin miedo a 'perder poder'. Es elevar a otros sabiendo que su éxito no disminuye el tuyo… sino que lo multiplica.

La generosidad, entendida así, no es un gesto puntual. Es una práctica de desarrollo humano y profesional. Porque como me gusta decir, no hay nada que llene más que hacer que otros puedan.


Todos recordamos a quien nos ayudó a crecer sin pedir nada a cambio. Esas personas nos marcan, nos modelan… y nos hacen mejores.

En un momento donde hablamos tanto de IA, automatización y eficiencia, conviene recordar esto que 𝘭𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢 𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘫𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝑝𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝑝𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢.

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗼𝘀 𝗹í𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀: 𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝘆𝗮 𝗻𝗼 𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮. 𝗟𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗼.

Durante años, dirigir una organización era anticipar lo probable.
Hoy el reto es liderar cuando lo improbable ocurre cada semana. Toca aprender y adaptarse más rápido que nadie

Deloitte señala que 66% de los CxO no se siente preparado para liderar en entornos volátiles...

... y 70% duda de que su organización pueda adaptarse con rapidez.
La incertidumbre dejó de ser una excepción para convertirse en el escenario.

El 82% de los empleados afirma que el propósito es clave (McKinsey & Company).
Sin él, los equipos se desalinean, los silos crecen y la organización pierde velocidad.
Un propósito no se declara: se comunica, se vive y guía decisiones.

Durante años hemos hablado de transformación digital, automatización y competitividad. Pero hoy el verdadero debate ya no es tecnológico, sino estratégico: ¿quién controla la infraestructura sobre la que se sostiene todo eso?

La soberanía tecnológica ha pasado de ser un término abstracto a convertirse en una condición de supervivencia industrial. Europa, que depende en buena parte de proveedores externos para chips, nubes y modelos de IA, empieza a entender que sin autonomía tecnológica no hay autonomía económica, política e  industrial. Lo advirtió hace unos meses la European Commission: '𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝑝𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘥𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘦ñ𝘢𝘳, 𝘧𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘳 𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘳 𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢 𝑝𝘳𝘰𝑝𝘪𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢, 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘥𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘢 𝘭𝘢 𝘯𝘶𝘣𝘦, 𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘶𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝑝𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝑝𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘥'.

La industria 4.0, con sus fábricas conectadas, sus gemelos digitales y sus cadenas de suministro inteligentes, se encuentra en el centro de este desafío. Cada sensor, cada robot, cada algoritmo que utilizamos depende de un entramado global que no siempre controlamos. Y eso plantea preguntas incómodas: ¿qué ocurre si las tensiones geopolíticas afectan al acceso a componentes críticos?, ¿qué pasa si las plataformas en las que confiamos cambian sus condiciones de uso o imponen restricciones de acceso a los datos? La respuesta, en muchos casos, es que el sistema se detiene. Y un sistema que no puede funcionar de forma autónoma no es soberano.

El riesgo no está solo en la dependencia tecnológica, sino en la pérdida de capacidad para decidir. Lo que está en juego no es la autosuficiencia, sino la libertad de acción. Porque la soberanía tecnológica no consiste en cerrarse al mundo, sino en poder elegir con quién cooperar, bajo qué reglas y con qué garantías. Es un concepto de competencia, no de aislamiento. Y esa distinción marcará la diferencia entre las economías que lideren la próxima revolución industrial y las que simplemente la consuman.

En este contexto, la industria europea necesita repensar su modelo. Las fábricas inteligentes no pueden limitarse a conectar máquinas; deben construir infraestructuras digitales seguras, interoperables y propias. Las empresas no pueden depender exclusivamente de plataformas globales, sino desarrollar capacidades locales que les permitan mantener el control sobre sus procesos, sus datos y su conocimiento. La soberanía tecnológica empieza dentro de cada organización: en su cultura, en su arquitectura de sistemas, en su visión de largo plazo.

Debemos comprender que la tecnología no solo sirve para producir, sino también para decidir. Quien domine su infraestructura podrá construir un futuro verdaderamente inteligente, sostenible y humano.

En su reciente columna, Juan Claudio de Ramón recupera una idea brillante del pensador Dan Wang: mien𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘴 𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘦𝘴 𝘶𝘯 𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘥𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘴, 𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘦𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘥 𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘨𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘴.

Y quizá ahí esté una de las claves del cambio de era que estamos viviendo. Porque mientras Occidente debate, China construye.

Mientras nosotros redactamos marcos regulatorios, ellos levantan infraestructuras, fábricas, presas o líneas de alta velocidad.


Esa diferencia entre construir y deliberar no es solo política o cultural. Es industrial, tecnológica y económica.

La legitimidad del poder en China, dice Wang, se basa en las obras, en lo tangible. Y lo tangible (producción, innovación, ingeniería) sigue siendo la base de toda prosperidad sostenible.

Occidente, en cambio, parece atrapado entre la hiperregulación y la pérdida de su capacidad para hacer. Hemos sustituido el verbo 𝘧𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘳 por 𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘳, y el de 𝑝𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘳 por 𝘰𝑝𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘳.

Sin embargo, como recordaba Xavier Ferràs en uno de sus artículos, el futuro no pertenece a los países con más materias primas, sino a los que generan talento, ciencia y propiedad intelectual. Y eso exige recuperar la mentalidad de los ingenieros: pensar, diseñar y ejecutar.

La China del 𝘌𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘥𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘴 nos recuerda que el progreso se mide en puentes, en chips y en energía, no solo en discursos o estrategias. La pregunta para Europa y para nosotros, los que trabajamos en industria y tecnología, es sencilla pero incómoda: ¿𝘴𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘮𝘰𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝑝𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘳?

¿𝘘𝘶𝘦́ 𝘩𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝑝𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘴 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 Twins? Son réplicas virtuales que permiten simular diferentes escenarios antes de construir en realidad: desde costes y emisiones hasta accesibilidad y emisiones de carbono. Para proyectos tan sensibles como líneas de ferrocarril o carreteras, ofrecen inteligencia clave para tomas decisiones de forma correctamente.

Además, se integran en arquitecturas tecnológicas maduras (𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘟) como parte de sistemas de innovación, junto a IA, robots, mantenimiento predictivo, realidad aumentada... Estos gemelos digitales modelan procesos reales, emulan comportamientos, simulan escenarios y, en su versión más avanzada, optimizan decisiones automáticamente.


Algunos casos de uso que podemos ver en el artículo que os incluyo más abajo:
· Evaluación de inversiones energéticas con ahorros potenciales de +USD 100 M.
· Planificación urbana en Victoria (Australia) con gemelos en tiempo real.
· Control operativo en grandes aeropuertos con reducciones del 20–30 % en retrasos 


¿Cómo empezar un proyecto de Gemelo Digital? 
· Definir objetivos estratégicos claros.
· Priorizar casos de alto impacto.
· Estructurar flujos de datos robustos.
· Desarrollar la lógica de emulación y simulación.
· Validar con datos reales.
· Escalar el proyecto hacia toda la organización

Vivimos una era de disrupción continua: nuevas tecnologías, tensiones geopolíticas, regulación en constante cambio. McKinsey señala que el nivel de incertidumbre global hoy es casi el doble del que había en los años noventa. Pero para las empresas inteligentes, estos 'giros' no solo representan riesgos; también oportunidades.


Según propone McKinsey & Company, existen cinco palancas estratégicas que permiten no solo sobrevivir, sino destacar en contextos turbulentos:

· 𝘋𝘰́𝘯𝘥𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘨𝘢𝘳. No bastan buenos productos, hay que elegir mercados y segmentos con tracción futura.

· 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘰́𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘰 𝘥𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘰. Transformar monetización, producción y entrega.

· 𝘝𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘳. Poner a las personas más críticas donde pueden generar más impacto.

· 𝘈𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘰́𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢́𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘢 𝘥𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝑝𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭. Mover recursos rápidamente hacia lo que gana relevancia.

· 𝘈𝘥𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝑝𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢́𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘴 (𝘔&𝘈). No hacer compras ocasionales, sino construir con propósito y visión.


Estos engranajes estratégicos no funcionan por separado, sino en sinergia: una empresa que sabe dónde jugar, tiene un modelo adaptativo, un talento bien alineado y capitales reorientables tiene más capacidad de surfear cambios radicales.


Y en el mundo tecnológico y de la Industria 4.0 (𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘟 ), esa resiliencia estratégica es especialmente crítica: Los responsables deben decidir cuándo automatizar, cuándo invertir en robótica o gemelos digitales; las startups tecnológicas deben escoger en qué nichos emergentes apostar para no dispersarse.... y todos ellos deben conectar sus decisiones tecnológicas con Talento y Cultura, no solo con ingeniería y tecnología.

Porque al final, no se trata solo de gestionar crisis, sino de anticipar el próximo giro. Si las reglas cambian, las que sepan adaptarse y liderar desde la visión serán las que impongan el nuevo juego.
