PLAN: Now that we have a roadmap, I put on my facilitator hat to help you implement the action steps - whether it's stabilize/grow/sell. We adapt as needed and this accelerates your progress and keeps you on track.

TRANSITION/SELL: At some point you will leave your business whether you want to or not. We include this eventuality in our plan so that whether you pass the business along to a successor, or sell it internally or externally, the transition will be as smooth as possible.

Two years ago, she was making $0 as a coach.
Today, she’s teaching people how to build “profitable coaching businesses.”
 
This is one of the biggest problems in our industry.

I noticed one of my former clients commenting on another consultant’s post.

Out of curiosity, I clicked through.
 
This person now “helps former corporate professionals launch profitable coaching and consulting businesses.”
 
Interesting.

So I checked how we were 

Two years ago, she was in my DMs on LinkedIn looking for clarity.
 
At the time she had been a leadership coach for "several years" and working in corporate.

She told me:
She had no idea what niche she wanted
She was trying to do too many things at once
She was struggling with confidence and direction
And her revenue was zero
 
That is why the conversation did not move forward.

I work with established coaches and consultants already at six figures who want to scale not people trying to figure out whether they even want to coach.
 
Fast forward two years.

She is now positioning herself as a business coach, helping others launch coaching and consulting businesses… after not being able to successfully build her own.
 
This isn’t rare.

It’s actually becoming more common.

Here’s what often happens:
 
Someone joins a business coaching program to grow their coaching business.

Instead of developing their own IP, message, and method… they take their coach’s system and start teaching that.

Copying someone’s work does not qualify you to teach others.
 
I clicked onto her website.

The testimonials were exactly what I expected:
Nothing measurable.
Nothing tied to revenue or actual business outcomes.
 
Just vague statements like “I gained clarity.”
Clarity is not a measurable result.
And it’s certainly not proof you can help someone build a profitable business.
 
Here’s the real lesson:
1. If you haven’t built a successful business yourself, you are not equipped to teach others how to build theirs. You can’t shortcut credibility.

2. It is never acceptable to steal a coach’s IP and call it your own.  Integrity matters and aware clients can tell the difference.

3. If you’re hiring a coach or consultant, do your homework. Look for measurable client outcomes, longevity, and real expertise not just marketing fluff.
 
There are absolutely incredible, reputable coaches and consultants in this industry.
But there’s also a lot of noise and people who have no idea what they are really doing.
