Clay just shared my journey from Karachi to winning the World Cup.

Looking back at everything, the biggest thing I’ve learned is that it all starts with your mindset and vision.

Around 2020, I got into reading books about mindset, manifestation, and psychology - The Alchemist, Psycho-Cybernetics, Psychology of Money, The Power of Now, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. They really changed how I think about things, how I handle challenges, and how I prepare for big moments.

I also started praying more. There’s a prayer mentioned in the blog that my mother taught me - I say it before everything I do. I just say it and genuinely believe things will work out, and somehow they do.

My whole philosophy is pretty straightforward - if I can picture something in my mind, if I really want it, I can make it happen.

Now I’m just taking all that energy and using it to become better in every aspect of my life.

Growing up in Karachi, Pakistan, where girls were often told to choose between their career and family goals, Javeria Shah chose her own path.

We’re launching a new series spotlighting the GTM engineers shaping our global community — from Pakistan to the UK to Nigeria and beyond.

And we’re starting with Javeria Shah, our 2025 Clay Cup winner.

A few days before the international semi-finals of the Clay Cup, she got the dreaded yellow slip at the American embassy in Karachi: visa denied. 

Most finalists competed on stage in San Francisco. Javeria competed from her mother’s house in Karachi, hoping the Wi-Fi would hold.

Months before, when she had first signed up for Clay Cup, alongside hundreds of contestants, she’d written a line in her journal: It’s September 2025, and I have won the 2025 Clay Cup.

Javeria studied for hours every day. She navigated power cuts, unstable internet, and the pressure of competing remotely with hundreds watching. Long before Clay, she’d trained as an electronics engineer, and that discipline showed up here. 

And then she did exactly what she’d written down. By the end of 2025, she had won the very first Clay Cup. Her photo appeared in Times Square. She moved to a beautiful new home in Islamabad and started her own agency with her partner. 

Today, Javeria practices a different kind of engineering: GTM engineering. “If I want something,” she says, “I will find a way.”

This is the first of many stories from the builders around the world redefining what’s possible.

I paused digital nomading and came back to Islamabad to lock in and build DFY Automation and start working on long term investments.

It has been over a month and I decided to make a base here so wherever I go I have a permanent cave to get back to.

The last 2 months have been nothing less than a roller coaster ride.

Doing sales, running onboarding, doing research for clients, building GTM systems, learning and implementing new tech, trying to improve myself like crazy.

And I learned something important along the way. It is just as important to go in depth of things you are learning as it is to go wide.

But I was not doing that. I was trying to learn everything, test everything, build everything, and I felt impostor syndrome and shiny object syndrome hitting me hard at the same time.

I knew I need to calm down for a bit. I reintroduced meditation to my life. I started being consistent with my prayers. And I am still trying to find the balance between work and life and learning to not feel guilty when I rest.

It is all a work in progress as I build DFY Automation and an investment portfolio so I can be financially free in my 30s.

Some days are better than others but I just wanted to share some “Behind the scenes” of building a business and building a life in my 20s.

500 emails. 2 opportunities. Day 1.

We just kicked off a cold outbound campaign for a client in the manufacturing space, an industry most people wouldn't even think to run cold email in.

And the results out of the gate? A 2.57% reply rate with two real, qualified conversations already in the pipeline.

This is why we love what we do.

Cold outbound isn't about blasting inboxes. It's about finding the right person, with the right message, at the right time. Nail that, and even "hard" industries open up.

Most GTM strategies fail before the first email is sent.

Not because of bad copy or technical fails. But because every prospect is treated the same.

I think about it as → Signal Waterfalls. 

Instead of hunting for one perfect signal, we build a ranked list of signals that could indicate intent or relevance. 

Example (simplified): 
1. Primary signal 
2. Secondary signal 
3. Tertiary signal 
4. Weak / contextual signal 
5. No clear signal at all 

You don’t stop when the first signal isn’t found. 

You move down the waterfall. 

- If Signal #1 is detected → send a highly specific message + offer tied directly to that signal 

- If not, but Signal #2 is detected → change the angle, adjust the offer, send a different message 

- Same for Signal #3 and #4 Each signal has: 

- its own copy 
- its own framing 
- sometimes even its own CTA 

AND when no usable signal exists - You still don’t drop the prospect. 

You fall back to: 
- a broad but relevant pain 
- a capability-based offer 
- or a “show, don’t sell” demo angle 

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is not losing good prospects just because you couldn’t find a flashy signal.

Speed to Lead. 
Speed to Prospect. 
Speed to Client.

After 4 months running DFY Automation full-time (and 1.5 years of fractional and freelance work before that), one principle I've always stuck with:

Responsiveness wins.

Speed to Lead

Whether it's an inbound inquiry, a warm referral, or someone reaching out through your network, respond fast. The window between "interested" and "moved on" is shorter than you think.

Speed to Prospect

When a prospect has questions mid-conversation, hesitation is costly. If you're not quick to respond, they'll find answers elsewhere often from a competitor. Deals aren't lost to better solutions. They're lost to faster ones.

Speed to Client

For existing clients, speed builds trust. If you're serving US-based clients, be available in their time zone. When they reach out with a question or concern, a quick response signals reliability.

This doesn't just reduce churn, it compounds into referrals, renewals, and reputation.

Be reachable. 
Be responsive. 
Be the easiest person to work with.

In the shared video, I'm testing FlashLabs SuperAgent to see how it handles GTM research and prospecting.

First test: gave it a random company and asked it to pull everything, background, market position, competitors. Wanted to see how deep it could go without me digging through sources. Video shows the full walkthrough.

Second test: asked it to find 500 mid-market companies showing expansion signals in the last 4 months. New facilities, scaling operations, fresh funding rounds. I got decent company data with signals as output. (not shared in this video)

Still early in testing this, but  if you end up trying it, curious to hear what results you get.

I have been binge watching Matthew Berman's content. You can't miss it if you are deep into CC and OpenClaw or even just AI sauce.

We’ve been using Icypeas quite a bit at DFY Automation.

We use it for:

- verifying emails
- enriching contacts
- finding business emails by domain
- pulling data from LinkedIn profiles and company pages

Most of this runs through their APIs and feeds straight into our automations.

I saw recently that they’re working on native CRM add-ons for Salesforce, HubSpot, and Pipedrive.

I really like how they’re approaching it. Instead of guessing what CRM teams need, they’re actually asking:

what breaks in current add-ons
what’s missing
how people really work inside their CRM day to day

If you’re building or managing CRM workflows (especially as an agency), this is a good moment to share what you’ve learned the hard way.
