Being “always on” feels like leadership.

Quick replies.

Open calendars.

Constant access.

But here’s the hidden cost:
Availability drains energy — quietly.

Not because the work is hard.

Because the interruptions are endless.

Every message.

Every notification.

Every “quick question.”

None of it feels heavy.

Together? It creates a cognitive tax.

You’re never fully focused.

Never fully recovered.

And eventually — momentum fades.

High performers don’t have more energy.

They protect it.

Protected focus.

Clear access boundaries.

Intentional off.

Leadership isn’t about being available.

It’s about being intentional.

Yesterday, my wife and I intentionally set a full day aside to "reset."

No tech, messages, chaos, emails, and fires to put out.

Phone on Do Not Disturb and mind at ease.

A coffee and snack at a new place, a walk in nature, and a full cycle of heat and cold therapy at a spa.

No intentions, no meetings, no to-dos.

And we plan to continue these Resets once per quarter.

Because if you're not protecting your time, energy, and focus, no one else will.

This belief is personal: my late father lived with bipolar disorder, and my mother developed depression as a result. I know first-hand the generational ripple effects of unsupported mental illness 🤗

I’m also a patient. I live with Graves’ disease and thyroid eye disease (TED), and I follow TED drug development closely, not just as a professional, but as someone who understands how new treatments can change how we see ourselves – literally 👀

Outside of work, I lift weights before sunrise 🏋‍♂️, dance Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba on weekends 🕺🏾, and love connecting with others over real conversation, and a good cup of tea 🍵 I lived and worked in Germany for five wonderful years, using the opportunity to explore Europe and learn from its cultures and languages 🗣️

A multilingual polyglot, I speak English, Gujarati, German, Hindi, and Urdu, and have studied French, Polish, Spanish, and Italian 💬
