Fight robots, fight!

I have a new hobby with my kids... combat robots! 

Specifically the 3lb weight class.

We are now competing at NHRL, a international level competition (last month had folks from 9 countries!), and it's been a blast. 

We're having fun together and learning a lot about engineering, design, continuous improvement improvement.

I have also been teaching them marketing. They helped pick the name, branding, a theme for us (we throw out candy to pump up the crowd to get a 'home field advantage') etc.

We're seeing fundamental shifts in martech user experience

Folders are near and dear to many marketing professionals and this was one of our most requested features.

Folders are not about categorizing emails or lists or journeys. It's about categorizing emails and lists and journeys. 

For example, you might have a Prospect folder with the marketing database list with the prospect template with all the prospect journeys like nurturing and separate folder for customer communications.

Much more to come here, but excited to see this one ship!

"Chat with your data" is a ubiquitous use case for MCP servers.

Reporting on a single campaigns isn't too hard, but:

Reporting on trends is much harder. eg how has webinar performance changed over time

or even harder...

analyze campaigns over time and developing recommendations on how to change performance

Someone could literally spend a week full time analyzing hundreds of campaigns and developing some improvement recommendations.

Before Inflection, customers often have a campaign ops function that centralizes Marketo program creation

Unfortunately this leads to lots of back and forth between the campaign owner and the campaign creator with clarifying questions etc

Now with our new agentic capabilities, campaign owners (demand gen, field marketing, etc) can have campaigns drafted from Slack. 

They can then review the output and make changes themselves via prompts.

Once they feel good about a campaign, THEN it goes to campaign ops for review.

Way more efficient process.

My first time in Canada, and I learned the hard way never to pronounce it as Toronto with the "t".

Got to meet customers like David Seugling from monday.com in the flesh, and discuss how our roadmap is evolving. 

It was great learning from other enterprise leaders like Abi Ragu on how they make buying decisions for tools and how AI tooling is being treated differently than any other tools in the past.

Laila Labelle also dropped some gems about developing emotional intelligence and understanding buyer psychology, which is key to growing your sales skills. 

And can't forget Rajani's talk about how she has gotten ahead of orchestrating conversational intelligence with enablement tooling at Tipalti, something that many enablement orgs only dream of.

☠️ Belal Batrawy and I got a strong start to the CRO Exchange in Miami and it’s only Day 1!

Belal presented a keynote about how to navigate the AI roleplay evaluation process, including gotchas, the competitive landscape, the limitations of AI, the realities of implementation, and the results we’re already seeing from some of our top enterprise customers. 

We took out a group of leaders to dinner as well and I ate at my first steak house ever (that is a brocolli steak since I’m vegetarian).

Takeaways from Day 1:

1) Anne Slough mentioned enablement is not just about training and content and is more about stakeholder management. The modern enablement leader will align their initiatives with business metrics of multiple stakeholders, not completion rates and NPS scores

2) As Christopher Smith put it best, ramp time is the most underrated metric that any sales org could optimize. Most leaders give up because it feels impossible to change. It can both give CROs more at bats to drive behavior change when reps learn and produce more quickly, and it can improve deal velocity as a whole as well.

3) Jeff Bloomfield described it well: when the sales team misses their number, it’s not a problem with the individual sellers, it’s a leadership problem. It either means leadership hired the wrong people, or it means they’re not coaching their frontline managers or putting them in the best position for success, or they’re not approaching the market in the best way possible. 

4) John Wunder talked about how, with regards to enablement, we’re all headed towards a post-CRM world, meaning that the CRM is just going to remain a ledger for record but the enablement is going to happen in the systems and workflows themselves on live deals to improve rep behavior. 

5) Troy Kanter gave a spectacular keynote and touched on how in a hyper-competitive world where the barrier to entry is also dropping each day for businesses, the only thing that will differentiate companies is their human capital, and with regards to sellers, they are a massive asset. The reality is a shiny resume doesn’t matter when hiring for sales, the grit, attitude, and ability to learn is. But that has to be combined with the right type of coaching for a company to build the most elite group of sellers on the market.

Enterprises have built entire enablement programs around checkboxes: certified, completed, trained. 

It all looks good on paper, but none of that means a rep can actually handle a real customer objection.

Passing a quiz doesn't mean they can hold their own in a high-stakes discovery call. 

Recording a mock demo doesn't mean they can adapt when a buyer pushes back. 

We've gamified enablement instead of mastering it.

In fact, most certifications measure memory and not mastery. 

Put simply, they test whether a rep knows the words, not whether they can use them when it counts. 

Real enablement starts where certification ends, when reps are tested under the same pressure they'll face in the wild: live objections, competing priorities, real-time stakes.
