What 'authenticity' really means

vs LinkedIn 'Authenticity' 🤦‍♂️

Posting that "omg my cup is full!" 5 x a week.
...Really means - it's not. Stop exaggerating.

Every post talking about "good vibez only!"
... Really means - "I'm on the edge of a nervous breakdown".

Constantly referring to your network as your "amazing friends!".. Every day.
... Really means - they might love you, but they won't buy from you

What being authentic really looks like

Being yourself - owning your successes and your mistakes
Sharing what has worked (and not worked) for you and others.
Telling the truth in your stories - not exaggerating to pretend you're someone you're not.
Helping and supporting others to grow - and become their expert.

You see...

The Lamborghinis (that aren't yours)
The (photoshopped) expensive meals
The pictures with influencers (you bumped into)
The pictures of you crying (ugh)
The pictures of you proposing to your fiancé on the beach

They don't count for anything.
Your audience can see through your inauthenticity
And you erode more and more trust each time you do it.

Share widely.
Build relationships.
Show how you solve problems.

Be their authentic expert.

Because that's what your audience wants.

7 Ways to Turn Ghosted DMs Into Clients

Ojoswi just hit 10k followers in 18 months.

Here's why that's not impressive:

When we started working together, follower count was never his goal.

"Making what I do accessible to as many people as possible" was.

So 800 → 10k in 18 months?
High-five. Moving on. 🤷‍♂️

(People use engagement pods to hit those numbers in months. Let's not get giddy over vanity metrics.)

Here's what actually matters:

✅ Secured a contract with OpenAI
✅ Invited as guest lecturer at a top US university
✅ Invited as guest lecturer at a top Canadian university
✅ 650-700 conversations with the right people in his field

He's not selling anything.
(something I had to remind myself CONSTANTLY!)
He doesn't call it "building a personal brand."
...He just consistently shared insights from his experience. 

Not recycled "value" or sob stories.
The opportunities found him.

And on a personal level:

✅ No more cringe when writing on LinkedIn.
✅ He writes for his audience and himself.
✅ He creates content that actually matters.

The strategy was simple:
↳ Stay consistent (but not consistently doing the same wrong thing).
↳ Share what you actually know.
↳ Make sure your content pillars align with funnel strategy
↳ Learn how to communicate that clearly.

And then
↳ Focus on the people who matter.
↳ Know how to get into the DMs with the right people.
↳ Experiment and don't be afraid to 'fail'
(as a failure is only a failure if you fail to learn from it).

Accomplished and surpassed - every single one.

I've waited 28 years for what happened.

A pure love story went full circle.

The last time my beautiful Scotland qualified for a World Cup,
I was 14 years old.
1998.

I remember clearly running home from school to watch it.

The excitement of it all - we hadn't qualified for USA 94, so it had been an eternity since we last did - I was 6 years old (!).

We opened the tournament on a sunny Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

We lost 2-1 against Brazil (that first Scotland going in gave us that familiar (unfounded) belief).

Since then, we've failed every time.

Gotten close, but an abject failure at the end,
Every time.

It's become such a common theme, we expect it - yet never lose hope or belief.

Failure.

Last night, we had to win to qualify for the World Cup automatically.
Another 2 playoff games are not for the faint-hearted.

In the dying minutes of the game, a winning goal.

In the final minute of the game, deep into injury time, an audacious shot from the halfway line.

4-2.

We saw 3 wondergoals.
We saw tears.
Elation.
Joy. 

That feeling of pride, togetherness and a collective achievement from the players, training staff and supporters.

All with no fingernails left. 

Something which you can wait (almost!) a lifetime for.


And the thing it taught me about business?

Absolutely nothing fs.

This is a celebratory post and nothing else - let's not sour it by tacking on a useless business analogy! 

"No Scotland, No Party" is the refrain we bring as we're famous for our passion, desire, heart and spirit.

We'll see you in North America or Mexico next summer.

This is what I wish I had 6 years ago.

I'm going to let you in on a secret...

So many solopreneurs, coaches and GTM Experts all find this difficult:

"Where do I start, and how do I know what's right and wrong?"

When I started out on LinkedIn, I felt completely lost.

I got dazzled and blinded by the "10X your results" crowd.

I knew my ICP and understanding the psychology and emotional triggers was important...
But how do I even start?

I knew storytelling was super important...
But does the hero's journey REALLY work for LinkedIn content??

I knew that having great graphics and content was vital...
But I didn't have the time to invest and knew my results would be rubbish

And damnit, those pesky DMs....
How do I get people to book calls with me without pitchslapping them - or becoming best friends instead 🤦‍♂️

Well, tomorrow I'm going to unveil a secret we've been keeping for a few weeks.

Individually, the team are brilliant at what they do.

Value is dead.

Any guru still telling you to post it is talking bs.

It's dead because ChatGPT spouts "value" within 10 seconds.

Your audience are tired of it.
They see through it.
And don't see you as their expert.

They want your insights.
Your experiences.
Your expertise.

You know. 

Those crazy things which can't just be copied + pasted from ChatGPT 🤦‍♂️

Here's how to create content with insights, experience and expertise.

After you've drafted a post, go through it carefully.

1️⃣ Ask "How?" every time you explain a process.
  ↳ "How can I easily break this down?"
  ↳ "How do I view this topic, from my experience, differently to everyone else?

2️⃣ Ask "Why?" every time you make a statement.
  ↳ "Why is this important to my audience?"
  ↳ "Why should the reader care?"

3️⃣ Ask "Does...".
  ↳ "Does this push me closer to them viewing me as their expert?"
  ↳ "Does this show how I solve the problems they face uniquely?"


I've seen my clients 3 to 4x+ the engagement on their content, just by asking these questions and editing their content before questions.

Cos in a redundant sea of sameness, your audience are drowning inboredom.

Be their lifeboat and guide them to safety.

And please, no more bs value or listicles. 😩

You’ve been posting. 
Commenting. 
Showing up every day...

And still wondering why your calendar is quiet.

It feels unfair, right?
You’re doing everything the gurus say.
But the results never match the effort.

It’s becoming invisible to the people who would happily pay you.

Consistency only works when the strategy behind it builds:
↳ Authority
↳ Trust
↳ And movement toward a call.

→ Quantity comments build attention, not authority.
↳ Audit 5 of your latest comments and ask: could anyone else have written this?

→ Buyers trust people who make them think, not people who applaud.
↳ Add one quotable insight every time you comment, even if it’s short.

3️⃣ Track What Actually Books Calls
→ Vanity metrics look good, but they don’t fill pipelines.
↳ Start measuring accepts, replies, and calls booked every Friday without fail.

4️⃣ Run the 15-15-15 Cadence
→ When done right, 45 minutes can outperform 2 hours of random engagement.
↳ Do 5 SCAN DMs, 5 insight comments, and 5 signal based connections in the morning... then repeat two more times later.

5️⃣ Use the Conversation Domino Effect
→ SCAN opens the door, but FEELS or BLEED moves people to calls.
↳ After a symptom or pain comment, run one FEELS or BLEED pivot to navigate the next step.

You’re not far off.
You’re just one strategic shift away from weekly qualified calls feeling normal instead of lucky.

Why Consistency Was Never Enough - How I book 3-5 Qualifie

I just about ruined a huge launch.

And I'm likely about to be punished for it.

What a great day:

Write a great piece of content.
Genuinely one you sit back at and go "yeah. brilliant".

Spent 30 mins creating a kickass image to go alongside it.
(Almost nailed it).

Then realised I hadn't checked my launch schedule.

Yeah.

I've botched my own launch fs 🤦‍♂️

(by the way, WHAT an offer I have for you - ridiculously good 👀 
I might even have some friends helping me out (if they're still talking to me after this)).

A couple hundred of you saw it before I committed the cardinal sin:

I deleted it.

Doing so made me vomit.

You see, whispers abound that if you delete a piece of content, your reach gets damaged for the next couple of weeks.

So.

Launch almost ruined.
Reach for a couple of weeks, probably ruined.

So here I am breaking another 'rule' and writing a whiny post and posting it within minutes of deleting the other.

And whilst I'm at it, why not add a truly disgusting image to emphasise how I "vomited".
(cos everyone exaggerates on LinkedIn)

I hope I still have a reputation intact tomorrow.

Ever had one of those days?

It's not hard to convert on LinkedIn.

(but #3 is vital to do daily)
 
(serious - you're going to want to 💾 save to come back to later).

Everyone is posting... but few are converting.

Your views are fine.
Your likes are decent.

But the leads? 
The clients? 
The sales?

Silent.

So you start wondering.
In bed, in the middle of the night:

“Is it my niche? 
It must be my niche.

My offer? 
Yeah, it's that.

My writing?
I mean - everyone uses ChatGPT, right?! 

The algorithm?
Yeah. It's that fkn algorithm.
That's the problem."

It buzzes around your head until you drift off, believing ultimately it's not your problem. 

I've got some good news.
And a bit of bad news for you:

You’re not broken
(good news).

Your content strategy is.
(it's stuck in 2023).

And if you don’t fix it fast, you’ll keep attracting the wrong people, repelling the right ones, and blending in with everyone else posting the same vanilla fluff.

But the Top 1 percent?

They use a structure and workflow so intentional that it almost feels like a cheat code.

Here’s how we do it 👇

1️⃣ Build a Funnel with Your Content 
↳ Start by mixing Super TOFU, TOFU, MOFU and BOFU across your feed so people meet you at every awareness level (pages 2 and 3).

2️⃣ Use AI the Smart Way (Because Your Competitors Don’t)
↳ Scrape Reddit for the symptoms your niche actually complains about and use those exact phrases in your posts (page 4).

3️⃣ Understand That DMs Are a Non-Negotiable Strategy (Not for chatting to your Linky besties )
↳ Start every DM with commonality so they instantly feel like the conversation is natural, not a pitch (page 6).

4️⃣ Bridge Their Symptoms to What You Do
↳ Use “So I imagine in your role...” statements to connect their day-to-day struggle with your solution (page 7).

5️⃣ Dig for the Real Pain Before You Pivot
↳ Alternate “what” and “why” questions 3 to 4 times before offering the next step (pages 8 and 9).

If you shift your mindset from “posting” to “guiding,” your content stops being ignored and starts converting.

Most of you will mess up Black Friday.

Here's how I make 4-figures+ every time.

First, you must understand this clearly:
 
Your audience already has money set aside. 
They're mentally prepared to buy. 
They're actively looking for offers. 

And they make decisions faster this week than any other.
  
But most solopreneurs sabotage their own offers...
And then complain Black Friday doesn't 'work' for them.

(Spoiler: YOU don't work for IT).

They throw together a weak offer because "it's just low ticket."
 
Wrong move.
 
Buyers judge your premium work by your low ticket work.
 
Sloppy product. 
Sloppy perception. 
Damaged authority.
 
Stop pricing so hard.
Black Friday should be about volume.
 
→ Price points that convert when doing it alone: 
💰 $17, $27, $37, $47, $97 

→ Above $100 kills impulse buying 
→ Product should feel worth 5-10x the price 
→ Solve ONE clear problem with ONE quick win 
→ Make it fast to consume, not a 47-module monster
→ Bundle and repurpose what you already use with clients.

🍌 I asked it to generate an infographic based on the key points of the data.

It took 70 seconds.

Perfect text.
Looks great.
As good as a lot out there.

Just waiting. Hoping for high-ticket to appear 🤦‍♂️

And posting.

Waiting.
And waiting.

Wondering why that "big high-ticket client" rarely comes around.
Worrying about cashflow at the end of each month..

Yet doing nothing about it.

Listen, it's not your fault.

The gurus tell you just to "build a personal brand" and "just post!".

It's cute, but not making you money.

You should be making it as accessible as possible for your audience to get closer to you.
To identify who will actually put their hand in their pocket...
And spend cash.

Most people don't do low-ticket offers as they "don't see the value".
They don't understand how $47 makes $47,000 within a year.

You need to stop seeing it as revenue.
And start seeing it as a foot in the door.

To allow those who like you to get that bit closer.
To stop feeding off the free stuff and get to the hard stuff!

A buyer once is a buyer forever.

And that's why your low-ticket offers should be PAINFUL to give away.
It SHOULD hurt.

Because it SHOULD hurt them to work 1:1 with you later down the line.

Every one of you have something you can sell.
Something you've previously made.
Something which solved THAT problem for someone.

That's your low-ticket offer.

This isn't about making fast money.
It's about building a sustainable pipeline.
That leads them towards your bigger offer(s).

This month, I wrapped up a 4.5-year journey in my second fractional Chief of Staff role. It was a meaningful experience that taught me more than I could have anticipated.

The most meaningful surprise was the messages from community members. They shared how our work together has made a lasting impact. Tools they still use. Values that shifted. And hope they're carrying forward.
