AllPaws was a best-in-class web & mobile platform and community for pet lovers which applied an online dating approach to pet adoption and used proprietary technology to re-imagine the way people find their next dog, cat, or pets. AllPaws was one of the largest pet adoption platforms on the internet and offered a comprehensive solution on web and a fun & addicting mobile app experience on iPhone.

SNAP's leading online dating apps and social apps experienced extraordinary growth - attracting more than 100 million users. Ranked as the 36th fastest growing company in North America on Deloitte's 2012 Technology Fast 500 for achieving 4,400% revenue growth over 5 years.

As Co-Founder and one of only two members of Senior Management from 2005 through late 2011, I was primarily responsible for all legal, financial, administrative, human resource, hiring, anti-fraud, and public company regulatory and operational functions as we scaled the company. I was also responsible for writing all company press releases since inception. 

We grew SNAP to nearly 50 employees and approximately $20 million in annual revenue. We hit a peak market cap of ~ $150 million and raised $8.5 million in capital from institutional investors in January 2011.  Prior to that, we succeeded while raising under $ 1 mm in total capital (with no new capital since 2007) - growing entirely on revenue generated from operations for 3+ years.

At least for me, doing the hardest tasks first thing in the morning has been a game-changer.

I used to have an elaborate routine to get myself in "prime" working state, but as I go deeper into building business and brands, I've realized the state typically follows action.

Focus on the problem, not in your solution

As builders is easy to get hyper focused on the products/services that we are making to solve clients problems , but the truth is the problem itself should be the real focus

When you’ve identified the core problem, often times that’s sufficient to guide your solutions and building moving forward. When you get too hyper focused on the solutions themselves, you quickly lose touch with the core problem you initially set out to solve. 

One of the best ways to fix this is to keep your feedback, loops, wide open with your customers

The simplest framework for winning on socials (the long game).

Know.

Trust.

1 - Share your story --> People need to know you.
2 - Talk about your honest opinion and experiences --> People will like and appreciate your voice.
3 - Articulate what you do, with precision and data --> People will trust your judgement and perspective.

The logic here is very simple, but in it's simplicity is potent clarity:

If people don't know you, they can't buy from you.
If people don't like you, they prefer not to buy from you.
If people don't trust you, they won't buy from you.

Content, done within this framework, has proven again and again to be the key to making your personal brand the most potent asset you own.
