In 2020, I left a miserable HR job. No savings, no backup plan. Just fear.

My dad was furious. 

Understandably, I had just walked away from what so many considered a golden opportunity.

I felt like a failure. 

But deep down, I knew I had to make a change. Because staying meant being stuck in a life and career I had no passion for. I was also trapped in:

🛑 A relationship I thought would last forever
🛑 The house I had lived in for 25 years
🛑 And Sundays spent with my mom’s delicious rice and chicken stew

It seemed too comfortable for my growth.

So, I took the risk. Learned social media management and quit my job.

With no formal training, I hustled day and night, looking for internship opportunities. After months of rejection, a marketing and brand manager for an Edtech company took a chance on me.

It wasn’t easy. But that first step opened doors I never imagined.

Since then, I’ve worked with some of the biggest tech brands across Africa and beyond. Today, I manage social media for a New York-based startup, earning 100x more than I did back then.

In my current role, I’ve:

1. Helped monetize our YouTube channel
2. Created the company’s top three viral posts
3. Increased brand presence on LinkedIn and Twitter.

Even though my dad still thinks I made a mistake, I'm having the time of my life observing startups (especially in Africa) from my Marketing POV.

Also secured partnerships with Houston Arboretum and other core sustainability minded businesses. A selected member from the City of Houston who assisted with the research and planning process to identify how to make the cultural community stronger and more resilient for what comes next. To ensure these entities are meeting the needs of the whole community, HAA and the City of Houston brought together an advisory committee made up of several artists and nonprofit leaders in various fields, as well as funders and public-sector disaster professionals. Lopez’s role on a board of 25 helped guide the scale, scope and success of the plan, resolving conflict, and strategizing for the future. This committee was the first and only one in the nation at the time post Hurricane Harvey and many other committees were modeled after this iteration.

In addition, we also helped instruct clients and offer tutorials on tech and other related functions of business.

An agriculture/energy specialist, Felipe Lopez is utilizing his years of experiences to launch conscious changes including igniting communities with resiliency and resources. With his knowledge from the arts, business, tech, and environmental work, Lopez is combining his passions and knowledge to launch SUNN Blockchain. As the youngest contemporary artist in Houston who has shown at the Museum of Fine Arts along with other major art institutions locally, nationally, and internationally, Felipe Lopez has honed his business knowledge and skills through his talents.

His passion to move the needle in regards to sustainable infrastructure, environmental work, and blockchain use cases allowed him to be selected as a leader in the Disaster Resiliency Committee for the Houston Arts Alliance & City of Houston, the first and only one in the nation at the time post Hurricane Harvey. Many other committees were modeled after this successful committee. He has also had experience in regards to community and partnership development in environmental efforts, education, and sustainability.

Through extensive non-profit work, creative solutions through design, and agricultural/compost field work, Lopez looks to drastically decentralize and collaboratively change our resource landscape with the heart of humanity at the core. By utilizing his knowledge and networks within blockchain, real world applications connect and convert our natural world into regenerative resources for all utilizing the power of AI and IoT. Felipe and his wife are collaborators, including raising four children who inspire their passion for change.
