In the early 2000s, search engine optimisation (SEO) was a relatively new kid on the block and it was rapidly evolving, with search engines plugging algorithm loopholes as quickly as organisations were finding new ones.

I loved the dynamic nature of SEO and additionally found it was an area where I could utilise the benefits of a strong technical background along side my keen interest in marketing and user experience. After seeing the increasing demand in the market for SEO, I took the plunge and started my own search agency in 2004.

TBI predominantly focused on the development of SEO strategies for clients and I was additionally able to deliver creative and development services through the network of contractors I had established in my previous digital agency roles.

Over the past two decades, I’ve built a career rooted in helping businesses grow by solving their  operational, digital and lead-generation challenges. 

My journey began with 2BInteractive, a full-service digital agency I co-founded in 2006. In 2012, I established our first offshore team in the Philippines - a pivotal move that significantly enhanced our delivery capabilities and shaped my long-term belief in the power of offshoring. Recognising the challenges agencies face in scaling their digital capacity, I rebranded the business in 2017 as Sonnet - a white-label provider specialising in premium web development and digital marketing solutions. Today, Sonnet partners with agencies across North America and ANZ, helping them scale efficiently and deliver exceptional results. My primary focus remains business development, supported by a highly capable offshore team that manages day-to-day operations.

In 2022, I co-founded Parallel, who helps small to medium businesses unlock the benefits of offshoring by setting up tailored teams in the Philippines. Inspired by the transformative potential of offshore teams, my focus at Parallel is on scaling the business, building client relationships, and establishing it as a trusted partner for companies navigating the complexities of offshoring.  

In 2019, I formalised my expertise in lead generation through Many Hands, an online course that teaches professionals how to identify, engage, and nurture prospects using LinkedIn. Many Hands distills the strategies I’ve used to grow my businesses into a simple, repeatable process anyone can use to generate leads.  

With a current focus divided between Parallel, Sonnet and Many Hands, I thrive on building strong teams, fostering innovation, and helping other businesses achieve their goals.

13 Years Since My First Trip to the Philippines!

Almost 13 years ago - October 2012 - I took my first trip to the Philippines. I still remember that fresh-faced version of me stepping off the plane, curious (and slightly nervous) about what "offshoring" really meant in practice.

Fast forward to today, and I'm back here catching up with some of my team - many of whom I now count as close friends. Over the years, I've built multiple businesses with incredible Filipino talent, and honestly, I can't imagine doing it any other way.

People often talk about offshoring in terms of cost savings and yes, that’s definitely a plus, but that's not what keeps me passionate about it. It's the people, the culture, the collaboration, and the sheer growth that comes when you build a genuine offshore team the right way.

When I meet business owners who still haven't figured it out, I genuinely feel a bit sorry for them - they're missing out on something pretty special.

One of the things I love about how work has evolved since Covid is the freedom to work from anywhere. Today I’m at Coco Space in Siargao, one of my fave islands in the Philippines — great internet, modern setup, and surrounded by the island’s digital nomad energy. For about AUD $12 a day, it’s hard to beat. A nice reminder that balance and productivity can coexist.
