I get asked about the tools we use to run our agency a lot.

That’s pretty much it. What's one tool you couldn't run your business without?

I think I've seen just about every way a SaaS company can light its money on fire with influencer marketing.

Here are three truths I've learned ⬎

1. I care more about a creator's old job title than their follower count.

A VP of Sales who has 8,000 followers is a sniper shot because you know who those 8,000 people are…

They are other VPs of Sales. 

A generic business coach with 200,000 followers is a complete gamble. 

Their audience is a mix of their cousin, some college kids, and a bunch of people who want to be coaches too. 

→ One audience buys software. The other one doesn't.

2. I prefer creators who do the work, not just people who talk about it.

Who would you trust more to recommend a hammer? 

A carpenter who builds houses for a living…

… or a guy who watches construction videos on YouTube? 

→ We always give creators free access to the product so they can become the carpenter.

3. The weird side effects of the campaign end up being the most valuable part.

Saas brands come to us wanting more visibility. And they get it. But then weird things start to happen…

→ Another cool SaaS company wants to do a partnership with you. 

→ An investor you admire sends you a connection request. 

The campaign makes you look like a winner. And winners attract other winners.

3 cheeky social selling tips few creators talk about

After spending a few years creating content and running outbound campaigns,

I thought social selling was posting content and hoping for the best. It’s not.

Social selling is making yourself familiar to your future customers before you ask them for anything.

That’s it.

After years of doing this, I’ve found a few weird little things that work better than any book will ever teach you.

Here are three of them:

1. Don’t be another “great post!” comment.

You see a post from someone you want to notice you. The comment section is full of AI crap.

Do not add another grave to that graveyard. It makes you look like a fan.

Instead, drop a respectful yet slightly contrarian thought. You’re not trying to argue — you’re trying to make people pause and think.

2. Make them stare at your post for an extra two seconds.

LinkedIn cares more about how long someone looks at your post than whether they liked it.

If your ideal customer stops scrolling to read your carousel or watches your 20-second video, the algorithm notices.

It sees that you captured their attention, and it will start showing your future posts to that person more often.

(I need to do these types of posts more often lol.)

3. Use your post as an excuse to send a cold email.

If you’re sending a cold email campaign, post something valuable on LinkedIn for that same audience a few hours before you hit send.

Then, at the bottom of your email, add a P.S. that says:

“By the way, I just posted a thought on LinkedIn about [topic]. Might be useful if you’re dealing with [problem].”

This is one of the best ways to combine social selling and outbound for even better results.

What other social selling tips do you think most creators are missing out on?

I want to tell you about a wild thing I saw happen with a very famous tool…

(The best audience for your SaaS tool might be someone you never even thought about.)

If you’re a founder, you know your core niche. 

You sold your product to other founders, or maybe to people in finance...

But what happens when everyone in your niche already knows about you? You have to find new people.

Think about Canva.

Everybody knows it's for designers and marketing people. That's their core audience. 

But Canva realized they were talking to the same people every day.

So they started showing how their product could help someone who wasn't a designer.

They partnered with teachers that talked to teachers about making class slides look professional.

Or real estate agents who talked to real estate agents about making their listings look amazing without hiring a graphic designer.

They didn't change the product but they changed the story and the audience.

Your product too can probably solve problems for people you never intended it for. 

You just need to think about it.

Most people think the best LinkedIn influencers are writers who never run out of ideas.

But after managing over 140 creators (and counting), we’ve learned something different:

The great ones aren’t obsessed with writing from a blank page every single day.

That’s one easy way to burn out.

The best creators are obsessed with finding spokespeople.

Here’s what I mean…

They spot an interesting thread from a VC, a strong opinion from a CEO, or a piece of tech news that’s going viral.

 That piece of content becomes their spokesperson for the day.

Now here’s the part they get right and most people miss:

They don’t repost or summarize it. That’s lazy and adds no value.

Instead, they use that spokesperson’s idea as a jumping-off point for their own thoughts.

They’ll say something like:

“The CEO of Stripe just tweeted that every company will become a fintech company. Here’s how that changes the way I’d build a community for a B2B brand...”

You see what’s happening here…

They borrow authority and interesting ideas from the spokesperson.

But the value - the part their audience comes for - is their perspective.

Their job stops being “writer” and becomes “curator + analyst.”

And that’s a much easier game to play every single day.

💭 What about you - do you think it’s smarter to create from scratch or build off other great ideas?

The most valuable skill a Linkedin creator can have has nothing to do with creating.

I know how that sounds.

We hire you because you're a brilliant writer or you make incredible videos. 

But that is not the skill that makes a brand want to work with you forever.

The most underrated, and the MOST important skill, is being easy to work with.

And I don't mean being a yes-man.

What I'm really talking about is the simple stuff that seems to be so hard for so many.

→ You send the draft on the day you said you would.
→ You send a quick note saying "hey, the post is scheduled for X day." 
→ You don't disappear for three days when we have a deadline.

A creative genius who is a logistical nightmare is a nightmare. 

We might work with them once for a big splash.

But a solid creative who is a dream to work with gets all the other projects. 

All of them. 

Because they make our life easier and we never forget that.

If you want a brand to love you forever, use one of these three Linkedin post formats. ⤵︎

1. Over the-Shoulder Loom Video

Don't demo the whole product. 

Just show how you use a feature to solve one annoying problem you used to have.

→  "Don't tell, show” worked centuries ago to persuade people. It still works.

2. Step-by-Step Carousel

People love learning how to do something. So build a post that teaches them a specific process. 

Slide one is the goal.

Slides two through seven are the steps to get there. 

The product you’re posting for is in that process - it’s the hero that saves the day.

3. Simple Diagram Post

Use a simple chart in Canva to map out the 'before' and 'after' or the '4 steps to achieve X'. 

Then you just place the product's logo in the one place where it makes the strategy work. 

It shows you understand the big picture and it looks smart.

→ These formats get better results for the brand.

→ Better results mean they want to pay you again.

It's a win-win situation.

If I wanted to land my first or tenth brand partnership on Linkedin, here's what I would do:

(works even if you have less than 5,000 followers)

First, I’d forget about every SaaS brand on the planet except for one.

The one that I already use every single day and genuinely love.

Then, I’d open up Loom…

And I would record a simple 2-minute video showing people exactly how I use that tool to solve one annoying problem. 

I’d post that video on LinkedIn.

The caption would be something like: My workflow used to be a mess because of [this problem]. Then I started using [the tool]. Now I get an extra hour back in my day.

Okay, now for the fun part…

After the post gets some decent engagement, I’d find the Head of Marketing or the CEO of the company. 

I'd send them a connection request and say:

"Hey [Name], made a quick video showing how I use your product. My audience loved it. You can use it as a case study if you want."

That's it. They're going to accept. And they're going to say thank you. Why wouldn't they? You just gave them a gift.

Then I would say:

"Awesome. By the way, are you guys working with any LinkedIn creators right now?"

The rest of the conversation is easy.

The #1 sales asset your SaaS has is probably buried in a Slack channel.

Here's what happens every single day at most companies:

Your customer success team hears an amazing story. A customer just saved 10 hours a week using a feature in a clever way.

That story gets a few fire emojis in your #customer-wins channel and then it vanishes forever.

What most SaaS companies don’t realize is that this story is a sales goldmine!

Every time the CS team gets a new win, add three things in a shared library or sheet:

→ The customer's problem.
→ The feature that fixed it.
→ The specific result they got.

Your salespeople can scan that document and find a story from a customer who was in the exact same spot instead of memorizing a list of features.

So when on calls, they stop saying this:

"Our software can do this..."

And they start saying this:

"You know, it's funny you mention that. We have a customer who..."

It changes the entire conversation.

You stop pitching a product and start sharing a path out of a problem that someone just like them already took.

A feature list or a story?

Every SaaS founder is obsessed with building a scalable machine.

(And I think that's exactly why so many of them struggle.)

When I started SaasFluence, I was exactly the same way:

→ How can I automate this? 
→ How can I systemize that? 

I was trying to build a perfect engine that pumped out results without me and Jean-Marc Chamagne.

Trust me, that doesn’t work when you are a start up.

So we started doing things that made our efficiency-obsessed brain hurt.

Jean got on calls with founders, even if the timing wasn't right for us to work together to give them some honest advice.

I recorded personal Loom videos for people before they were clients to show them one or two things they could do differently.

(when those brands wanted to scale, we were often the ones they thought of) 

And that’s when I realized: you cannot automate trust.

SaaS founders want to jump straight to the perfect automated onboarding funnel. 

But it’s WAY better when you personally get on a Zoom call with your first hundred users. 

When you answer the support tickets yourself.
