Gerdau

The market of industrial gases is supported by two strong features: few suppliers world wide and massive investments, leading to a long-term agreements.

The main challenge is to fill the short term demands conforming a long-term strategy. In many situations you may feel attract to a quick win decision, however looking ahead, you can get a bigger win by loosing a few today. To be seucessful, you must to see the whole picture. You must to understand deeply the market and prepare the ground for a good position in future.

In other way, you need a strong techical knowlage to manage an agreement witch could last 20 years. Every time you have a suspended supply, your steel mill stops, it's very sensitive for production. And of course, online 24/7. So, to garantee the supplying and investigate the source of some interruption, the manager must merge commercial and technical skills to find the problem, demand the solution and impose the penalty, if it's the case.

For natural gas, it very important keep on the governament rules. Like eletric power, there is a lot of regulation and not big space for negotiation. In other hand, brazilian GN market has moviments to open for new private players. We must to participate of the discution and set a strategy to get the best of it.

Both accounts together are over R$700millions/y.

Account Management - Industrial Gases and Natural Gas

My main role is to integrate the technical scope with commercial demands, price negotiation, conception of SLA and KPIs.
All the new agreements aims upgrade the service level and decrease the costs. To achieve that, we are all looking for deep understanding the industrial process and searching benchmarking. It allows us pay for what really add value to our production, supporting low costs in the end of the line.
Main procurement lines: intralogistics on steel mills (trucks, forklifts, cranes, wheel loaders), topography, locomotives and rail wagons, consulting, patrimonial surveillance and IT.
Coordinator of a transition plan over a supplier with 150 machines. Member of team responsible of Gerdau's fleet, over 300 equipment. Manager of R$110 million/year account.

Technical Advisor - Service Procurement

My main role is to create and execute strategies to reduce costs of the intralogistics and mobile maintenance equipments. We work with cranes, forklifts, trucks, loaders and other equipments.We have two main work lines: decreasing scope  and commercial services.
To decrease the fleet, we must go deep into the productive process to understand it and answer some questions: must  we transport it? What is this minimum load to transport? Is this the best solution? How to be more efficient? Can we share this equipment with other areas?
Ultimately, we are able to define the optimum fleet. Commercially, we review all contracts, we are looking for simpler ways to measure, control, manage and lower prices. It starts with the fleet, then it goes to contract scope, technical visits, provider's technical equalization, commercial equalization and inicial operational processes.

Trainee

UFVbaja

Baja SAE consists of two regional competitions (for Brazil) that simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain.

The object of the competition is to provide SAE student members with a challenging project that involves the planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market. Teams compete against one another to have their design accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm. Students must function as a team to not only design, build, test, promote, and race a vehicle within the limits of the rules, but also to generate financial support for their project and manage their educational priorities.
