In October 1983, the U.S. Small Business Administration and eight Kansas institutions of higher education entered into a cooperative arrangement to establish the Kansas Small Business Development Center (Kansas SBDC). Participating Kansas institutions included Emporia State University, Johnson County Community College, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, the University of Kansas, Washburn University, Wichita State University, and Fort Hays State University.

The fundamental goal of the Kansas SBDC was to become an efficient and effective provider of management assistance to new and existing small businesses. Specific objectives included:

1) To assist entrepreneurs in development of new small business enterprises and the expansion of existing small businesses.
2) To assist small business and industry managers in improving returns on investment and in making more efficient use of resources.

The seeds for the Kansas City AI Club were planted back in the early days of the Social Media Club KC. In the late 2000s, I was lucky to be part of SMCKC when it was just 2-3 tables at breakfast, and fortunate to watch SMCKC grow into a powerhouse with thousands of members and supporters. It was a special time in my life and the friendships formed in those days continue today, some 15 years later. It was also one of the most impactful eras of my life. 

Fast forward to early 2023 and the emergence of AI. What if there was a group of folks that formed a community in the Kansas City area to learn more about AI and how it can be applied to business, health care and other issues? That group was established in April 2023.

We're currently on hiatus until 2026. River Watch Beef, LLC (RiverWatchBeef.com) was founded in 2016 with a mission to deliver 100% All Natural grass-fed beef direct to your door. The result is restaurant quality (fine dining) beef delivered --for about the same price as your local butcher.

Our difference: We (responsibly) raise our grass-fed beef in Colorado and Kansas -- we don't "source" our beef. We work directly with a USDA-certified processor to dry-age (21 days) and package individual cuts. Our grass-fed beef is 100% All-Natural: NO Hormones, NO GMOs, No antibiotic-laced feed, NO BS. We take pride in our beef animals.

My role: As the founder, I manage all aspects of our supply chain, from ranch-to-table. This includes herd management, land management, beef processing, packaging, transportation, e-commerce, marketing, PR and shipping/delivery. I am hands-on and love to work our cattle with the cowboys that help manage our ranch.

Our purpose is to produce and deliver high-quality grass-fed beef to folks nation-wide, as well as feeding the hungry/impoverished with  donations, financial support and volunteering. 

Our free range grass-fed beef is raised exclusively in southeast Colorado (near Trinidad, Colorado). Since 2008, we have raised approximately 500-800 cattle per year. The cattle herd primarily consists of Angus and Hereford steers and cows.
