Chief Executive Officer

Some key activities conducted;

- Co-facilitated Focus Group Discussions with young girls and women and conducted 9 One-on-One interviews with healthcare practitioners for a Human-Centered Design (HCD) study aimed at gathering the opinions of women and girls about a new method for the delivery of contraception. 
- Collaborated with colleagues to develop an outline for a reproductive health manual aimed at equipping facilitators to deliver sexual and reproductive health information to young people. 
- Moderated/Participated in 5 digital education and advocacy engagements aimed at promoting the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people. 
- Contributed to the validation of tools delivered for the assessment of Youth Programmes, with about 15-20 other participants.
- Developed and facilitated 3 capacity building sessions to support young professionals to take advantage of online platforms to enhance their careers. 
- Participated in a digital campaign aimed at raising awareness of the COVID -19 vaccine and promoting its uptake for a period of 8 weeks through my Twitter and Instagram accounts.
- Facilitated a Twitter Space aimed at providing Civil Society Organisations with key pointers to take into consideration when advocating for their respective key advocacy causes in Parliament.

Independent Consultant

Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People 

Some key activities conducted;

- Coordinated 4 joint-partner meetings for approximately 18 to 25 participants at a time, for the purpose of building the capacity of project-implementing partners or holding key discussions to enhance project implementation.
- Consolidated narrative reports from 8 implementing partners of a key project that the GH Alliance ran towards promoting equal rights and opportunities for women and girls. This consolidated report was used for the preparation of the final narrative report for our donor partner.
- Contributed to the planning of a collaborative workshop where 25 journalists and editors were trained to strengthen advocacy for the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill into law, in one of the GH Alliance's key projects.
- Coordinated a field visit to 6 project implementation sites, where a representative of our donor partner and key stakeholders at the community level, discussed progress and lessons learnt from project implementation.
- Facilitated a sub-group for a virtual international conference meant to develop knowledge products to improve the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and youth.
- Facilitated the development of radio dramas in 4 local languages, to advocate for the reproductive health and rights of Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
- Facilitated the contracting of 3 consultants for the delivery of these 3 key project activities: a capacity building session for project partners, the conduction of a baseline and endline evaluation of the project and the development of a manual to train community-based facilitators on the project.

Acting National Programme Coordinator 

In this role, my main mandate was to support the Meaningful and Inclusive Participation of Young People in the implementation of project activities of the Ghana SRHR Alliance for Young People. In this role, some of the activities I conducted included;

- Coordinated the establishment of a 11-member Youth Advisory Body and prepared agendas and reports for the meetings of the body, over a 3-year period.
- Facilitated the annual planning and budgeting of youth-led activities within the GH Alliance's budget for 3 consecutive years.
- Facilitated 2 youth-led collaborations between members of the Youth Advisory Body and partner organisations, for the purpose of promoting the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young people.
- Worked with a team of 6 young people, to implement a mini-project aimed at promoting strengthened youth-adult partnerships within the GH Alliance.
- For over 3 years, facilitated multiple email communications between member organisations of the Alliance, for the purpose of project implementation.
- Co-facilitated a side event for the youth session at the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa, 2019, with colleagues from Kenya and Ethiopia.
- Contributed to the design/data collection/reporting for 3 research studies centred around the assessment of measures that could be taken to further improve the sexual and reproductive health of young people

Youth Country Coordinator 

Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana

Some key activities conducted;

- Consolidated bi-annual reports of the 15+ branches of the Movement spread across the country, as at then.
- Facilitated collaborations between members of the Youth Action Movement and other organizations working to improve the reproductive health of young people.
- Organised the National Congress of the Movement in 2017, which brought together volunteers from the local branches and key organisations at the national level, for deliberations aimed at improving the reproductive health of young people.
- Contributed to the development of a proposal for a project that the Youth Action Movement implemented to promote access to and participation in reproductive health education sessions and utilization of youth friendly SRHR services by young people aged 10-24 years in Ghana.
- Facilitated advocacy and reproductive health education activities of the Movement by making requests for funds at the head office level.
- Facilitated the participation of young volunteers in key capacity building activities/SRHR forums at the national level.
- Contributed to the development of a manual developed to equip young people with reproductive health education.

National Coordinator, Youth Action Movement

Some key activities conducted;

1. Participated in reproductive health education activities that the local Sunyani branch held at churches and schools, among other venues.
2. Coordinated the planning for a one-day training session on Life Planning Skills for between 25 to 30 volunteers of the local Sunyani branch. 
3. Prepared reports for meetings of the Sunyani branch, for a period in which I served as branch activitiy
4. Represented my local branch in workshops that PPAG held at the national level to advance youth SRHR.
5. Participated in the planning and execution of a one-day outreach where the Sunyani branch made a donation to a local orphanage and provided reproductive health information to approximately 25 to 35 adolescents at the orphanage.

Volunteer

Ghana Health Service

Some key activities conducted;

1. Provided education on child welfare issues to mothers in the local community.
2. Supported reporting on key healthcare issues to the district office.
3. Assisted in the provision of information on family planning to women who visited the health facility.

Little did I realise I was "hooked" for life 😄

When I asked Sis. M if I could go with her to a volunteer meeting of the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), while I was in my 3rd year of studying for my degree in Public Health, I did so out of curiosity 😁.

I really didn't realise by then, that attending that first meeting would lead to me deciding to volunteer too, lead to me landing my first-ever job with PPAG, and also lead on to an unconventional career journey 👣

On this journey, as a teammate on projects implemented with local NGOs in Ghana, partner organisations across the Africa region, and international development organisations which are focused on improving the SRHR of young people, key areas I've worked on so far include;

- Activity implementation 
- Research studies
- Digital advocacy
- Event planning and facilitation
- Project reporting
- and Proposal development 

Along the journey, I also began a podcast 🎤 named Insightful Convos with Irene Siaw, to serve young professionals with career/entrepreneurial lessons.

Another thing I've done is to facilitate virtual training sessions that have been aimed at supporting colleagues to maximise their use of their social media platforms. 📲
