Foltor Technologies

I was responsible for product design, customer discovery, analytics, and quality assurance for the Aruku startup initiative at Foltor Tech company. Aruku is a mobile app trip planner that focuses on attraction recommendations and generates daily itineraries.

Through multiple user interviews, hypothesis validations, and competitive research, I created user personas and helped identify key user problems and needs. This led to reshaping the value proposition and adjusting the MVP development.

From the start, we knew that the three pillars Aruku would stand on are data, the recommendation engine, and user experience (UX). It was both a challenge and a joy to design flows that should feel natural to users. The mobile app design and basic branding were entirely my responsibility. While working on delivering components and documentation for the MVP, I also created and validated prototypes through usability testing. For analytics, I helped define the metrics we should be collecting. The knowledge we gained helped us create a vision of how the product should evolve.

Like many startup participants, I had to wear multiple hats, including project management and manual quality assurance. I closely collaborated with all team members and co-owned sprint planning, feature requirements, prioritization, and delivery timelines. As a QA, I created and executed over 600 test cases to ensure the app works and looks as expected, is stable, and operates smoothly.

I have led a team of 4 product designers responsible for iOS and Android apps. Closely collaborated with product managers to establish clear expectations and a prioritized timeline, ensuring that design deliveries were consistently on schedule. I consistently reviewed and improved work processes while providing support and guidance to each member of the mobile design team.

The design team had to simultaneously deliver new designs and migrate all existing designs from Sketch to Figma. During this busy phase, I ensured continuous design improvements, enhancements to the design system, and coverage of design debts. An important focus was placed on cross-platform collaboration and maintaining consistency.

At the same time, I was also hands-on with design. I engaged in cross-platform collaboration on two significant and sensitive initiatives. The first involved migrating the Funimation users to the Crunchyroll experience. The second initiative focused on redesigning the way users watch anime with various dubbing and subtitling options. Additionally, I worked on improving the subscription cancellation experience and incorporating billing notifications.

I worked extensively on various aspects of the product across both Web and Mobile platforms.  My key focus areas included social features (commenting, reviews, ratings), subscription services (acquisition landing, upgrade experience), and content consumption enhancements (video player improvements, share play functionality, and watch screen enhancements). Additionally, I significantly contributed to the evolution of the Design System by adding components, documentation, and improving its structure, hierarchy, and naming conventions.

During the company’s journey toward compliance with GDPR, PSD2, and other regulatory standards, I was involved in designing various B2B open banking solutions, including Account Information Services (AIS), Payment Initiation Services (PIS), and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). Additionally, I worked on a B2C solution—Personal Finance Management (PFM) for web and mobile apps—which was later adapted as a white-label offering for B2B clients.
