I remember leaders who challenged me.

Not through confrontation or criticism, but through expectation.

Feedback that made me rise to meet it.

Because I felt like they were always in my corner.

They taught me to:

- Own your mistakes.
- Take work off their plate.
- Separate urgency from noise.
- Back your ideas with reasons, not feelings.
- Find solutions before presenting problems.
- Show initiative when there is no instruction.
- Take ownership instead of waiting to be told.
- Act like a leader long before you're given the title.

Those leaders stay with you.
 
They stretch your abilities without breaking your confidence.
Their kindness gives you the strength to improve.
Their belief makes you want to grow.

Great leaders lift the bar and lift the person.

THE TRAP OF POSTING ONLINE

You start out sharing ideas. 

Then you start watching reactions.

You crave the highs of approval and fear the lows of criticism.

But either way, you’ve given up control.

Because if words can move you, then others still hold your chains.

The goal isn’t to silence the noise. It’s to stop needing it.

Create because it’s true, not because it’s liked.

We overestimate polish and underestimate momentum.

Most of the breakthroughs in my career happened because I shipped something that wasn’t quite ready. Not perfect. Not final. Just done.

- A quick post in 2020 that reached 30 million people.
- A draft I nearly deleted that brought in three clients.
- A late-night graphic I designed that inspired me to learn Illustrator.

Every time, the world reminded me that the fears I had about my work not being good enough never mattered.

Here are 10 reasons why done always beats perfect:

1. There’s no such thing as perfect.
2. Imperfect work still opens doors.
3. Speed is a competitive advantage.
4. Action leads to improvement.
5. Perfection is a stalling tactic.
6. You can still fix it later.
7. Real feedback arrives only after you publish.
8. Small wins build confidence to take bigger swings.
9. Done keeps you from polishing things no one will notice.
10. Shipping early exposes how unimportant most of your worries were.

If you’re sitting on something, waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect version, take this as your sign:

Hit publish. Ship it. Move.

Momentum will take you further than perfection ever will.

December 2017 saw the end of a 16 year career with Siemens Trains Radio where we maintained the Metronet analogue radio system for Sydney Trains. This network used a variety of Technologies needing expertise not only for radios but also in telecommunications, power, data, electronics and software. We had a challenging SLA requiring mission critical equipment to be restored in the city area within 90 min during peak to prevent the cancellation of services; with a 97% success rate, we were an industry leader in delivering service, that others had tried to match but failed. 
Prior to this I worked with Telstra, involved in the Customer First sector, the first serious attempt to roll out a modern broadband ADSL network, we connected customer up, resolving software, hardware and communication issues to deliver the service, replacing the existing dial up connection for internet access at the time.  
I want to continue my career in the service industry with qualification and experience in railway radio systems, communications, electrical, software and electronics
