Wrong.

Here's what happened:

We were running outreach for a client who places Google Ads specialists in companies. He wanted to work with fractional CMOs - people who could bring him into their client engagements.

Why LinkedIn gurus are wrong about selling into mid-market B2B. They'll tell you that you need to:
 
1. "Post every day" - Your CTOs aren't scrolling all day
2. "Go viral" - You need the right 500 people, not a million
3. "Be an influencer" - Be a problem solver instead
4. "Spray and pray" - 200 targeted > 2000 random
5. "Content = leads" - Content builds trust, outreach generates leads

How to find unlimited Linkedin post ideas to build authority in your niche without being cringe:

Think of Linkedin like a public work diary.

That's the best advice I can give CEOs/founders who want to stand out.

Here's what I mean:

People don't want to hear about how great you are. They want to hear about what you've done.

So just tell them.

The stories from your client work. The problems you solved. The mistakes you made. The lessons you learned.

That's the content that actually works.

Not "5 tips to scale your business." Not "here's my morning routine."

Stories from the digital trenches, minus the mud… plus a very comfortable chair 

Here's how I do it:

I use AI to ask me questions. Like I'm talking to a younger person in my business or a family member I'm trying to teach something.

AI asks. I answer out loud. Then I use it to form the post.

It's not about being polished. It's about being real.

Document what you're doing. Share the work. Show your expertise by doing, not by claiming.

That's how you build authority on LinkedIn.

The diary approach keeps it simple. You're not trying to be a content creator. You're just showing your work.

And people respond to that way more than they respond to generic advice posts.

The reason your LinkedIn outreach isn't converting has nothing to do with your offer quality. It's your messaging. Let me explain:

You've seen other founders in your space book calls from LinkedIn.

You know outreach works. You've even landed a client or two from it yourself when you had time to do it properly.

But when you try to be consistent with it? Nothing.

Here's what's happening:

Most LinkedIn outreach asks for attention without offering value.

"Can we hop on a quick call?" 
"Do you have 15 minutes?" 
"I'd love to learn about your business."

These are asks disguised as offers.

You're asking for their time. 

What are you giving them in return?

Your prospects are busy founders just like you. They've heard every pitch. They can smell a sales message from the first line.

Here's the framework that actually converts:

Your offer must be stronger than your ask.

Bad offers:
❌  "Let me show you a demo" (you want me to watch you present)
❌ "Can I learn about your business" (you want me to educate you)
❌ "Quick call to discuss your challenges" (you want me to tell you my problems)

Good offers:
✅ "I'll show you the exact system we used with [similar company] to achieve [specific result] - 20 minutes, no pitch"
✅ "I'll do a custom analysis of your [specific process] and show you three places you're losing efficiency - you walk away with an action plan whether we work together or not"
✅ "Here's our benchmark data from 50+ [type of companies] so you can see how your [metric] compares - no call needed"

One asks them to give you time and hope.

The other gives them something specific and valuable regardless of whether they buy.

The founders who land clients consistently from outreach aren't sending more messages.
They're sending better offers.

The problem isn't that you don't know this.
The problem is executing it consistently when you're buried in client delivery.

We started offering a Free trials last week, the results have been weird (in a good way).

I expected more leads. That happened.

I didn't expect as many higher quality leads as we got. 

Here's what I learned:

I'm selling LinkedIn services on LinkedIn… The most saturated market on the platform. 

Everyone gets outreach messages about LinkedIn growth 100 times a week.

Plus there's horror stories everywhere about people getting burned by agencies.

So when I started offering a free trial, it did two things:

Made me stand out (obvious)

Put my money where my mouth is (less obvious but more important)

I'm not just saying "we can help you" like everyone else. I'm saying "let us prove it first."

The trade-off? 

I'm spending a couple hundred dollars on fulfillment for each trial. Time and setup.

But I was going to spend that money somewhere anyway - on ads, on more outreach, on something.

Now it's just a fulfillment cost instead of a marketing cost.

And a percentage of trials convert to full clients.

I'm not saying free trials are right for your business. They're not right for everyone.

But if you feel like you can do really good work and you're confident in your results, why not let people see it first?

The offer is what gets people to restart conversations. The quality is what gets them to stay.

How I re-engaged old prospects who've been ghosting me for 6-months:

Some of these people were interested 6 months ago... but nothing happened.

So when I launched the free trial last week, I reached back out. 

Just a simple "Hey, we're doing this now, thought you might be interested."

And they were.

Here's what surprised me:

Most of them originally came to me about content. They wanted help posting on LinkedIn.

But what got them re-engaged was the outreach trial.

Then when we got on calls, they said "actually, it's the content we're after really."

The offer was just something to restart the conversation. A reason to talk again.

But what they actually wanted was what brought them to me in the first place - the content and personal brand building.

The lesson I learned is that your audience is still there. Even if they didn't buy the first time.

Sometimes people need a different entry point. Sometimes they need more time. Sometimes they just need a reason to reconnect.

Don't write off conversations that didn't close. Give them a reason to re-engage.

And when they do, listen to what they actually want. Not just what you think they want.

Think about what that means.

Someone gets referred to you. They're interested. They're ready to take a call.

LinkedIn isn't just a lead generation channel. It's a validation channel for every other source.

When prospects come from:

- Referrals

- Conferences
- Paid ads
- Partnerships

They all check LinkedIn as part of their due diligence.

Your LinkedIn presence either validates the opportunity or creates doubt.

The question isn't whether prospects are checking you out instead its what do they see when they do.

What they offer

Here's the shift:

Stop talking about what you sell. Start talking about what they struggle with.

The founder who can't get LinkedIn to work consistently. The agency owner who tried automation and burned their brand. The CEO who hired a ghostwriter and got generic garbage.

Those are problems your audience has. Talk about those.

When you demonstrate that you understand their world deeply, they assume you can solve it.

You don't have to pitch. The expertise is the pitch.

My best-performing content is never "here's what we do." It's "here's the mistake I see people making."

Because that's what they're searching for help with. That's what keeps them up at night.

Solve their problems in public. 

The clients come as a side effect.
